Well we don't know how it happened. Did they search before or after they searched his license and saw it was suspended?

 

I did assume he was high coz he was nervous even though the test was negative.

Plus and educated guess is enough by law. I assume they didn't just throw him out of the car, probably asked and then he bolted. And that's why they searched the car. No one really knows in what order everything happened so can't comment on it accurately.
