Tipping Vs Tying down

Just wondering what methods you guys prefer out of tipping the head of the plant and tying them down? Which is better for yield? Also what do you guys think about trimming / pruning the plant? and hoy you go about this?

I tip & tie almost all my plants.

I don't prune at all unless it's getting too bushy & looking like I'll get scaggy little buds, & then only to promote light into the centre of the plant for better growth.

Others might/will have their own ways of doing things so just wait for a few posts & pick which way you want to go about it...

Cheers MUD, Ive always tied my plants down, just the main stem with wool or wide string and bend it over to almost vertical, and have just started experimenting with tipping. Would you recommend just tipping the plant once to get 2 main stems? or more to get 4 etc.? And I didnt think it would be a good idea to prune them.. except for if they get too bushy I guess. Unfortunately mine arent that great yet bloody possums..

im no expert but i think the strain has a lot to do with it,

both methods are very good at it

the more you tip the smaller the buds will be

you end up wid lotza little buds

eze to stash and transport

not everyone wants big budz

 

but for those that do

cause if every bud thinks it is the highest bud

than all the buds will grow big like top budz

because the highest bud has the best chance of getting the seed transported furthest away

so the highest bud always gets the best quality and quantity of nutrients to produce the best seeds

thats why the top bud is always the best bud pon any plant

Outdoor SCROG? Im guessing that means screen of green? Could you please shed a little more light on this method?

 

How do I get all the buds to the same level? Just by tying them down or do I have to place a screen over the top?

i used a water level to setup the screen level

screwed it to a few tomato stakes over the plant

as the plant grows up thru the screen i just keep pushing it back under the screen

till the screen is full or she goes into bloom

usually only takes 2 or 3wks of pushing the plant under the screen for a plant to fill 1 square meter

sometimes i will use black out curtains to force the plant to flower

from a 1 m2 screen i get 10oz of budz outdoors

i love to cover the top of the screen with hothouse plastic

to protect the buds and control the bud grow zone

I usually tip it to get the four main branches growing then tie them down when I think they're long enough & just leave it to grow after that. I get atleast one good bragger to show off to my friends & a range of sizes in the others.

But you've gotta work out what you think is relevant to your own grow for a successful season.

Cheers for the input guys, Ill just do a bit of experimenting I think. Ill just keep tying them down and tip a few, and if ive got any spare time and coin on my hands I might set up a SCROG.
