Cops video taping hydro shops?

Recommended Posts

So I think we can safely assume that this practice of video taping is going on...the question is what

can they actually doing with the info...what do they need to get a warrant...?

The process is holistic. The police having acquired addresses, by registration vehicle checks, run both the registration numbers and their associated addresses against their database. This will aid in determining the network of persons of interest at large, on parole or incarcerated (just because people are locked up doesn’t mean they can’t run a syndicate). The addresses are also scouted for evidence (as already discussed) and can include the use of thermal imaging without a warrant if the imaging is taken from a public land location i.e., a footpath.

Reading this link it is obvious police will also sneak up onto one’s property and check one’s electrical meter box to determine an elevated usage. Don’t click this police link from within Ozstoners. Copy/paste it. You never know how much information the police can gather by who visits their pages and from where.

The police can also park a vehicle equipped with hidden video cameras to surveillance the property 24/0. Again, police do not need warrants to use surveillance when conducted on public land locations. To avoid suspicion from wary growers they can rotate from a fleet stock of surveillance equipped vehicles. Once police have gathered sufficient evidence for a warrant they will raid. With today’s police powers being increased, the degree of ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ for a warrant is hair-trigger thin. Below are recent Canna/hydro busts on the Gold Coast. Yet despite all the resources the police have, the greatest threat to any grower is the tipoff. Never let anyone know where you grow.

Another Gold Coast bust - proof that acting an idiot will get you busted.

This is an interesting read – it’s a beat up for why the Gold Coast needs greater anti-drug resources and policing. The ol’high fiving by politicians, as I had thought, chiming in to be the hero.

A Gold Coast bust from 2008 – the police even take the plants with wet roots to beef up the weight (fuckers). The plants don’t look too good as they have nutritional/pH problems.

I live in Sydney and am certain hydro shops are watched, police would be stupid not to. Points made above seem to be correct - they can't just get a warrant for someone visiting a hydro shop. Other evidence would be needed. But, it would be easy to make an anonymous phone call to the police assistancfe line complaining of a smell of marijuana coming from a certain address. I usually take many precautions when shopping but one day I didn't. I usually park right down the street but this time was a bit too relaxed and had a late model commodore follow me. As I was approachinh my car it was sitting on the road-side a bit further up for ages with it's break lights on, I watched it for a while and it just sat there, then I stupidly drove past and it pulled out behind me. I think it's because I parked a way away, perhaps they drove out of their position to get my licence plate. Another time at the same shop I was asking questions and the guy made a phone call to the owner. The owner asked if I was paying cash, which was completely irrelevant to the question, then as I was leaving I saw two cops in an unmarked car enter the street. They didn't see me, fortunately, but made me think the shop is in cahoots with police. Perhaps the owner was busted and is helping the cops out? Perhaps the owner is a cop? Again, caution is a necessity in this ridiculous age of criminalisation.
