Victoria to ban bongs.

Recommended Posts

Following the other states in the dash towards facism and rampant stupidity, the coalition has promised to ban bongs if elected. Always a sure-fire vote winner with the sheeple. Of course this will save Victorians eleventy bazillion dollars a year because of 'all the physical and mental' harm that this 'very dangerous' drug causes. This will also boost the population of Victoria as there will be less stoners around to eat all your babies. Time to start writing letters to your pollies folks telling them that you will not be voting for them if they take this further step back into the dark ages especially as it based on the usual lies and misinformation. Also some letters to the editor stating the REAL facts about Mary Jane in an effort to edumacate the masses wouldn't go astray either. This war can only be won through public awareness, so go make the public aware. (Or sit on your arses and continue to doom yourselves to be ruled by your inferiors.)

The sale of marijuana smoking implements will be banned if the coalition wins the Victorian state election, Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu has announced.

Mr Baillieu said Victoria was the only state in Australia to not restrict the sale of bongs, and a ban would reduce the harm caused to families by cannabis.

"Cannabis is a dangerous drug which causes serious mental and physical damage to many Victorians every year," he said.

"As long as John Brumby allows bongs to be sold freely at more than 100 outlets across the state, Victoria's young people and families will continue to suffer from the damaging effects of cannabis.

"Victorians can't trust a government that claims it is tough on drugs yet won't take this important step to reduce drug use."

Mr Baillieu said research showed cannabis was a gateway drug for more dangerous illicit drugs, with most heroin and cocaine users first experimenting with cannabis.

He said the coalition would amend the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act to restrict the sale of bongs, and Consumer Affairs Victoria inspectors would be responsible for policing the ban.

Mr Baillieu said a coalition government would also provide information and education about the harmful affects of cannabis.

An election is due to be held in November.

A manager at the Off Ya Tree bong store in Melbourne's Swanston Street said he was not allowed to comment.

Comment is being sought from the state government.

I just emailed this to the libs. fucking wombats.

I have just read an article on how the party is going to ban the sale of bongs in Victoria if elected. I have been a liberal voter both state and federal since I could vote way back in 1968. Only once did I vote labour in a fed election. Can you please tell me how banning the sale of bongs is going to effect the use of cannabis? I think you need to really get in touch with your constituents and do some honest research on cannabis and it effects on people who use it, when are you people going to wake up to the fact that the war on drugs does not work. People can make bongs out of any soft drink bottle and a bit of garden hose are you going to ban the sale of soft drinks and garden hoses. I am just so fed up with all the propagander and vote catching methods both parties use, what you should be doing is seriously thinking about legalising (not decriminalising) all drugs so they can be more controlled like alcohol and tobacco. If you were serious about all this then you would ban alcohol (the biggest problem above all for family problems and road trauma than anything else).

Prohibition does not work, when is someone with any back bone going to stand up and do something that will have a positive result. Or are governments getting too much money donated by the criminals to run elections, to keep illegal drugs illegal. There are more and more countries now decriminalising/legalising cannabis because they have woken up that 1 they cannot stop it and 2 they can tax it and put the money to good use elswhere. I will not be giving you my vote if you are going to do this. Scare tactics to the electorate are an insult to their intelligience. You show me one person that has devoleped a mental problem from cannabis and I can show you a hundred people who have been smoking cannabis for more that three or four decades and have lived a normal healthy life, have been law abiding citizens and run businesses and brought up familys that have turned out to be good people. This sort of vote catching scheme makes my blood boil.

Please wake up.

Ugh, i hoped the politicians had woken up to the fact that banning paraphernalia will do nothing to stem the use of cannabis, rather it will just force people to turn to unhealthy ways to smoke their cannabis, like through home-made plastic bottle bongs, etc.

Also do they really believe banning bongs will stop cannabis use!?!? rolley papers are like 50c down at the servo, affordable and available to nearly everyone.

Hey guys

Well i am back, i have read this bong ban thing and what little people realize is that when banning the propper quipment for facilitating the safest way of smoking through a pipe ei a pyrex or ceramic bong with a metal cone and stem piece it forces the user to resort to the most harmful way the home made bong with hose, foil and a plastic bottle.

The chemicals are released over time from the hose and foil due being constantly heated up then ends up being inhaled by the user.

What i'd being doing is sending a email to these stupid politicians and highlight the fact that banning bongs is going against the HARM MINIMIZATION policy employed by the Drug and Alcohol systems, which in short is a model used to minimize the harm faced by a user when taking drugs. A good example of this is the NSP Needle Syringe Program which provides intravenus drug users with free clean needels and enjecting equipment aswell as a safe desposal, now thats HARM MINIMIZATIOn by reducing the risk of contracting and spreading blood born viruses such as HEP C,HIV and so on from the use of dirty needels and from needle stick injury from the result of the impropper dispoal of syringes.

Man what are these stupid politicans doing? looks like a last ditch attempt to curve marijuana use becuase they know deep down their now losing the war on drugs and we all know it. As for victoria, remember the banning of the sale of glass pipes (crack pipes) did that stop the sale or curb the use of speed, ice, heroin? which are smoked through the pipes? nup!

Peace out

And some people think cannabis will be decriminalised in this country soon!

I wished it were so but in reality we are going backwards fast in Australia.

When I walk my dog I would see bongs left behind by kids. They were made from a plastic drink bottle and a bit of garden hose.

Where I would spot one or two a day I now see none at all.

Is the bong ban working or have our stupid cannabis laws caused younger people to move on to something else?

They can't ban syringes can they because people with medical conditions need them.

welcome to QLD, a ban on bongs does nothing, you can still order them from the internet which has a much larger and better range than most shops. When the ban in QLD came in i bought up big on cone pieces and metal stems. Although since i have learned due to shop owner, that it is still legal to sell pipes, just not to break them down and sell them piece by piece. So although bongs are outlawed it is still legal to purchase pipes and hookahs as long as they come complete (even with screw in cone pieces) hasnt affected much at all.

yeah i dont think a ban on bongs will have a great affect. ive just moved to melbourne from queensland. when living in qld i walked into the off ya tree on the gold coast and said i would like to buy one of the bongs out of the cabinet, i got the reply: i cant actually serve you seeing as you have told me you wanted to purchase a "bong" but if you go over to another person behind the counter and ask to buy one of the "liquid pourers" out of the cabinet they can help you. i got a little card along with it stating that the liquid pourer would serve great as an elegant pourer for salad dressing ect. quite hilarious.
