Advice needed on CFL

Recommended Posts

Am looking at setting up my first indoor grow. Purchased 4 130W CFL lights, 2 for growing (6400K and 14000K-blueish) 2 for flowering (2700K and 25000K-its purpleish). Using a converted outdoor dunny with about 90cm long, 60cm wide and as high as i need (2m, although won't go that high). Can double that space but starting small. From the info i can find on-line the 6400k and 2700k are right wondering about the others. How many plants (was thinking 2 or 3). Each CFL has approx 10-11000 lumens (so 20-24 at a time). Any advice appreciated.

Most of the replies you are going to get are going to tell you to ditch the fluro's and go with HID lights. There are quite a number of topics here discussing the merits of growing under fluro lighting and many members are quite passionate in their disdain for them, conversely cfl's also have their supporters but many fewer.

Personally i;d use a 400 in that space but as you already have the 4 fluro;s i can only wish you good luck and suggest maybe scrogging or training 1 or 2 plants to maximise your yield.

Hi mattyk, only new to this game myself but are you sure the k numbers you quoted are correct? I use cfls to sprout and veg, I have a combination of cool white(4100k) and warm white(2700k) all are 24 watts, 6 cool ones and 4 warm ones inside an old fridge with a pc fan for extraction. Have not ever come across 14000k or 25000k globes myself. I think they are probably both to high in the spectrum to be of much use to cannabis. could be wrong. Anybody else?

p.s I use a 600w growlush hps for flowering. Highly recomend this as flouros don't yield much in comparison.

Gills is spot on, even got the right brand. Should arrive in mail this week, couple of plants under 26w fluro now waiting for bigger one to turn up. Room just needs coat of white paint. Most of my research suggets they should work but who knows, was hoping someone else had tried them.
