Recommended Posts

Now that's a big increase.............

And no this thread is not a invite to debate LED/CFL/HPS...........

But solar power......not that's another thing.......anyone got one?

My oldies just got a 1kw sys waiting for to be 'plugged in'. Was waiting to see what impact on their bill this would have but given this announcement might just go and get one (bigger poss 1.5 or 2 kw sys).

But will the fed govt increase rebates ah decisions decisions.......

I'd just add when my father was a linesman his biggest and continual complaint was the ever increasing fat hogs at the top of the electricity biz. They do fuck all work, get paid ridiculous amounts of money whilst the boys in the field were expected to do the impossible with very little resources.

I'd be culling middle/upper management first lol

My uncle works in a power station in NSW. It's gone past it's designed 'working life' and no plans to decommission. He has been saying for many years that we pay to little for electricity. He also talks about the lack of reinvestment/maintenance on equipment. I'm unaware regarding management, I guess all companies could fuck of half of middle management (are u reading this D.o.H and Centrelink!!!!) and still function.

im not concerned. call up energymatters and get a solar panel on your roof with the rebate before it runs out.

work out how much kW you need and sell it back to the power grid on a gross plan NOT net. That way the electricity company will be buying back at around 62c a kW.

Im hanging for this device to sell back power to the grid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steorn

If ya live were gas is piped past your house, you should like at the "bluegen" gas generator , it produces 48 kw of power each day at 2\3's of the cost of power (that the price of power now, it will cost more soon) and it low carbon output :) and 83% efficient ( the coal powered power stations get around 30% efficiency ) and it will produce all your hot water for free

Combine it with a lot of solar cell and you can manage to get all your energy needs for free ( Origin pays 50cent per kilowatt of solar power you put in the system) by using the solar to pay for the gas
