Is 36c-38c too hot?

Recommended Posts

Hi, everybody ive just setup my first and new grow tent (1.2x1.2x2) with a 1000w in a ducted cool tube and 3 big squirrel fans (one for intake and outake and one blowing through cooltube). I left everything on for nearly 2 hours for a test and the temps went from 32c to hovering between 36c-38c :(

Unfortunately people would see if i was to stick the ducts out windows and i cant put it through the roof because im renting. I know the obvious solution is to buy a portable Air conditioner but im broke so for now the hot air will just have to circulate around the room.

So my question is will my *cough* tomatoes grow good in these temps and should i germ my seeds (from a breeder and a bit $$$) and start growing OR will they just all die and i should wait until i can afford air con or it cools down? Im not looking for the best quality or a huge yeild, it is my first grow and its mainly to gain experience etc, but i dont want to be wasting all my time or seeds if their just gonna die.

Thanks for your patience for reading my long post and hopefully your help if you post it. :)

thats some serious temps man

newly germed plants would struggle

a plant that is established with a good watering schedule could make the break

it comes down to keeping the rootzone comfortable

side effects are root rot, mould, powdery mildew etc

might be better off running a 600w in that area

1000w is really suited to 1.5mx1,5m

although ud think the cool tube would give u some hope

do u have a man hole thats near the grow area?

id just duplicate the manhole cover

cut out wat needs to be

put the original manhole cover away till inspection

and use the 1 u duplicated for ya duct

hope that gives u some hope

id be ducting the hot air out of area totally

all the best

hey clint , when i was renting i ran my ducting into a cupboard thru a hole i cut into the roof when

i left the house i installed a air flow vent thing (about 10 bucks ) as long as its neat and tidy, nobody will be the wiser.

just buy one bigger than ya ducting hole

gotta seperate that hot exhaust from ya intake will make the world of diff.

Brilliant!

Highly recommend the above, without my exhaust fan that I cut a hole in the roof for my room runs 3-5*C hotter along with having really stale air that's not great for growth.

Thanks heaps for the imput bill, budgie and dandy. Id love to just nock some holes and start growing tomorrow but i really cant :freak: I just wanted to know if i could grow in these temps but it looks like the answer is no :) I should be moving rural soon and when that happens il be able to vent however i want and il post up a grow journal :(

You saved me from a great deal of frustration and a bunch of wasted seeds so thanks anyway.

I was running low-mid 40's in the small cupboards before ventilation was improved recently. I'm not saying it's a good thing and I seem to remember something about plants shutting down above the low 40's, but they grew.

So what do other people think about this? will it grow in these sorts of temps from seed or just die? from googling i hear mixed reports.

Im prepared to have a stab but wanna know if i stand a good chance. Has anybody else grown in high temps and had failure/sucess?

Hi Clint Beastwood,

So what do other people think about this?

Very doable with ease Clint but you may have overdone on the 1000w. Although the Coolie the make or break ..... extract and replace air - a coolie should give you a 7- 10 dg performance if set up right.

billopuffalot .........cut out wat needs to be

billopuffalot on the ball :)

:(
