growing skunk 1

Recommended Posts

Trials and tribulations.

i was hoping to veg these for two weeks after my last cycle.

they are sensi seed skunk 1's. all i've grown before was dutch passion's white widow which gave an average yield, good smoke and average flower time - 63 - 65 days.

i had read many reviews about what a good strain skunk 1 is to grow, but i'm finding it slow.

it seems to be very indica dominant and so very close internodes compared the the white widow.

it has double in size in about a month, i was hoping for size doubling weekly - although i feel i made a couple of mistakes with this grow due to my inexperience -

1st. it is an indica dominant plant and should probably have already been put it flower instead of trying to grow it big.

2nd. i should have gone against mates advice to grow fewer plants, but grow bigger.

3rd. i should have tipped them a second time to get 4 main colas instead of 2. this way i would have been flowering already.

may aswell ask now then for those of you who can help with this strain. it's about 12 weeks from seed in these photos.. do you think that it will grow much more or should i compact the grow and just flower them out already?

i'm looking for high yields. (if vegging for another 4 weeks would give me double the yield of flowering from now, then i'll wait, if it won't grow much bigger, pls tell me)

Hello mate! Personally i think you need to bend/tuck those 4 main shoots down a bit more, keeping them horisontal means you will get more side shoots = more heads... I would only veg those for another 7-10 days, spread the plants out more... Once the screen is 3/4 filled turn them, they will stretch a lot... keep tucking and bending them... Imo... Looks like its going well mate! Gd work!

heya bullseye ^_^ from what you say and the photos i reckon you need another 250 - 400watt (approx) lighting in the area or possibly the globe you are using is at end of its useful life, i say this cause in the photos there is far too much shade on the sides of the plants ... 12 wks seems a long time for sure nevertheless they look nice healthy plants ^_^

out of interest please go here to calculate the recommended lighting for your given area ...

https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners...rs/lighting.php

as Tompyweed says bending over the tops and further training will surely help make bushy plants .. good advice

:)

EDIT: i also notice the pots only half-full of growing media ? root area has a definite correlation to size of plant

thanks guys, i just needed a bit of support with this one=)

i'll try bend them a little more, it's hard tho because the branches are well developed and solid, so they don't bend easy.. they kink easy.

yeah half full of medium, because my last two grows i filled the pots of completely and when i pulled them at the end the roots were only halfway down, they vegged for about 1.5 - 2 weeks only tho. these girls have vegged in these pots for about 3 weeks?

i've got 800 watts in there - the calculator recommends 828W or max 1200W. the only thing is one is a metal halide. i want to compare the two for flowering. i could probably bring the lights closer together to minimise that shadow?

anyway i'll see how things progress and look at flipping them in a week. thanks guys, you've been a big help=)

I liked this strain probally the best euro seed i've purchased. There is some stinky pineapple phenos in there but is also alot of variation from low yielders to max yielders dark in colour (near purple) to huge plants lime green in colour with odd shaped calaxs..

i think i can dig up some pics if you need.

i purchased this strain from sensi because i'd seen alot of people calling it their favourite all rounder. i've just found it a bit slow so far is all. maybe i just have very indica dominant plants and they won't grow much more i dunno? i had to ask
