Plant lifts her skirt up

hi fellow growers

 

general info.

Im into my 4-5th week veg. and have the growing area down to two plants now. These seeds are of unknown origin (some bush-buds we had a try of years ago and kept some of the seeds.)

I have them under some fluros that have total lums around 12000, I think (6 x2ft tubes, 2 x 20cf).

Both were lightly trained:

 

P#1 was tipped (3rd set nodes) - circumference of around 35cm each way.

P#2 was left untouched - 15cm high, 20-25 cm across

 

*when measuring do you measure the pot aswell ? I dont think you do, so I just measured from bottom of stem.*

 

Now p1 looks very different to p2 since its spread across more (lower branches have really spread out fast and the whole plant generally looks alot more "wirey" then P2.

Also the leaves are narrower/lighter and no-where near as dense as P2, new growth seem to want to stretch alot more, so I just put that down to being a different strain, since both have surccumbed to same environment I dont see it being anything else, but then again I am such a newbie at this, its not funny.Maybe just same strain but a male/female, dunno.

 

 

Two questions.

 

1. The wirey one (P1) is no longer rigid in the pot, seems very loose and flimsy, and it feels like it just wants to jump outta the pot and leave the roots behind, I also noticed a few roots showing up. Is this a result of plant outgrowing the pot (approx. 20cm x 15cm) ??

2. P2 has just shown its sex, and ofcourse I should be jumping up'n'down cause its a girl BUT Im not quite sure where I go from here. I need more lum's if im to switch the girl into 12/12 and im pretty sure P1 is going in my friends backyard tomorro' so there will be plenty of room for her. How long can I keep her in this state ( i need two more weeks for decent lights), or has she prematurely started to flower on me and hence I should put her under now with what I have ??

I only see a few tiny calyx's with 1-2 stigmas up the top 1/3 of the plant, but I didnt expect a plant to show its sex till into flowering.

mate they could be preflowers you're looking at, its not necessarily flowering.

The word 'preflowers' somehow disappeared from my train of thought.

Gonna do alittle research and find out abit more about these.

But I did notice they are kinda tiny, anyway thnx for that .

This gets really hard after you try to select for 5+ different things....

 

I.E for indoor fro seeds (Sativa Female x Indica Male)

 

18 on 6 off veg

female/male

female/Sativa dom

male/Indica dominant

most vigarous to grow

tall and little side branching plant after veg

short and wide

12 on 12 off flo

quickest to induce

highest potency plant

higher indica/sativa

highest yielding plant

quickest plant finished (days)

lowest/highest possible light

 

but....

 

To keep it simple im calling P1 a sativa basic selections below

outdoor/scrog type...

narrow long light green leaves

fairly large stretch nodes

thiner preflower pistol hairs, lighter looser flowers for first 6-8 weeks of 12 on 12 off

 

 

P2 a indica

indoor/sog type

wide stout dark leaves

short stocky stretch minimal between nodes

thicker preflo pistol hairs, after 14-21 days flowers the size of your finger start to fill out,

within 28-35 days the main crown should be finished stretching and forming towards a continuous main crown bud...

Usually 56-70 days flower from a seed, as further clone crops are grown the flower period and node spacing will reduce...

 

Basically P1 seams as is it if sativa dominant but with what consistently who knows as you only had 2 to select from P1 50% P2 50%... if 10 seeds are started and 6 like P1 and 4 p2 60/40 etc... Now depending on how far you want to select and for how many traits...

 

But could P1 be so wide and stout as it was topped... Yes and could the lankiness be as its rootbound... Maybe? which could make a indica dominan plant look sativaish... Yes

Which plant to choose

P1) Scrog style plant grow till 6th internode top clone and veg for 2-4 weeks then flower... will grow 150-250% if not topped/tied

P2) Sog/LST/Supercrop style plant Lets say your after close internodes, thick dark fan leaves, purple stem/leaf traits and quickest highest yielding plant available....

P#2 was left untouched - 15cm high, 20-25 cm across

 

So therefor if you were to grow in 1x1 meter with a few larger plants(2-9) 8-12 weeks veg maybe 10-12weeks flower...(26weeks total) instead of lots of small plants(36-81) P1 suits.. But P2 i better for 2 w clone 0-2 weeks veg 8 flower...10-12 week cycles

 

Which style suits you well thats even harder call......

You sure know your shit man.

Im sticking with P2. Alot of factors are playing into it and unfortunately I dont have a camera yet to show visuals.

And im not really ready for the whole cycle thing just yet, since this is my first test, but given the limited space, im going to try cloning, short veg ..etc and see how I go.
