Marijuana Smokers Were Poisoned With Lead

They had stomach cramps, nausea, anemia and fatigue, and some even had a telltale bluish line along their gums � classic signs of lead poisoning. But the cases, last year in Leipzig, Germany, puzzled doctors.

 

Lead poisoning is rare in Germany, and yet here were 29 cases in just a few months. The doctors noticed a pattern: the patients were young, from 16 to 33; they were students or unemployed; and they had body piercings and a history of smoking.

 

Three provided samples for testing. Sure enough, their marijuana was full of lead. One bag bought from a dealer even contained lead particles big enough to see, which meant the lead must have been added deliberately, rather than being absorbed into the plant from contaminated soil.

 

The core temperature of a joint can reach nearly 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the doctors noted — more than hot enough to melt lead, which can be absorbed through the respiratory tract.

 

The poisoning was widely reported by German newspapers and television, and an anonymous lead-screening program was set up for marijuana users. Among 145 people who showed up for testing, 95 more cases were found.

 

The authorities do not know where the tainted marijuana came from or why the lead was added, but the German police suspect that it was done to make money. The samples tested contained 10 percent lead by weight, which translates into an increased profit of about $682 per pound of marijuana.

 

The patients are recovering and taking medicines called chelating agents to help remove the lead from their bodies. But it could take years to clear it completely, particularly from bones. And some were quite disillusioned to learn that poison was added to what they thought was a pure, all-natural product, said their doctor, Prof. Michael Stumvoll of University Hospital in Leipzig, who commented, “How naïve!”

I have to agree, I'm in QLD, I don't buy no shitty street weed but I get too see enough of the shit at mates houses. The past year I have seen buds that have what seriously seems like fucken sand on the buds.. You chop up and its gritty as fuck between ya fingers... Try smoke it just clogs the bong up. I've seen a 1/4oz in a bag with a 10c~ bit of sandy shit in the corner just from shit that fell off after it was bagged. (Even looks like sand with 20-30x magnification). I was almost thinking it was JWH -xxx those dodgy sounding synthetic cannabinoids you can buy off the net but that wouldn't b very cost effective.

Also seen cunts selling moldy as fuck (black mold) buds that people thought were rat shit.

 

The general public really needs to be educated, but the sad thing is most general smokers in QLD are fucken stupid and even if you told them their was something on the buds they'd smoke it anyway..... Makes me sick just thinking of smoking that gritty shit!!

 

If anyone knows what the fuck this sick shit is going on buds these days I'd like to hear about it. I'm suspect it could be this Brix+ here or something similar. The gritty shit taste more salty tho.

The gritty sandy dope you speak of has been soaked in linseed oil, just smell a tin of that stuff and you will know. I avoid buying dope from wizzheads, scabby cunts or the people flogging off a bit of everything as it only leads to bad smoke and eventually getting picked up by the fuzz for associating with these kind of people. If you cant grow your own find another stoner who is a fan of primo dope willing to sell you a bit and if you cant do either then it might be time to change location/state.

If they wanted to make shit heavy weed they could lace it with honey and dry it out...surely more ecnomical then adding 0.1g of ice haha.

Yes I couldn't agree more...from an economic point of view comercial dealers aren't lacing pot with more expencive drugs. It makes no sence. But there is plenty of other stuff is used and as I said.....I think the point is being missed here. Weather it was speed or something else, or if it was nothing and he just greened out. As long as he is stuck buying in an illegal market he has no fucking idea what he is smoking and is right to be concerned imo.

 

Fuck Prohibition and all the problems it causes.

PS...If you have smoked hash or compressed buds in the late 80's to mid 90's there is a good chance you have smoked opiated hash and buds. It's why people rave about the hash back then being so much better than now. It was common practice to add the low grade opium not used for heroin with the local bush cannabis hash or buds to improve it and make it salable.

I'm with Fraz & everyone else who says this is bullshit. No dealer gives away drugs, period. One of the best things about buds is they're almost impossible to adulterate without immediate visual detection.

 

A pounding heartbeat for a short period is not unusual when a cannabis-naive user either gets hold of some good buds or hasn't smoked in a long while and smokes too much. Often coincidental with paranoia.

I can still get a pounding heat beat at any time and I smoke 4-5 j's a night. Bhudda sticks used to knock me on my arse. Rumour at the time was they were growing the cannabis in the same field as opium poppies and some of the opium somehow would drift across to the canabis . I like to now think the Mongy's story holds more weight about the opium getting to the cannabis. Makes more sense now.
