First Time Failure

Hello all,

A first time outdoor grower here who's failed first attempt. Here's the story thus far;

I purchased a pack of seeds from planetskunk about 2 weeks ago. Package arrived in record time, like 4 working days or something. Put them in a shot glass with some tap water. After about 24-30 hours all the seeds has either sunk to the bottom or split and started growing tap roots.

I bought a bag of seedling potting mix from Bunnings and some seeding trays, making ample drainage holes in the trays. I filled the trays with the potting soil and planted the 10 seeds that i had in the glass about a fingernail below the surface and put outside in a humidity dome.

After 7 days, nothing has sprouted. I removed the seed tray from the dome and placed in a shady area of the garden. It's now 9 days and still nothing.

I have been watering twice every 3 days on average, usually by feel. If the soil seems dry I water, otherwise no worries.

I've finally got my own place and want to grow for myself outdoors, but this kinda sucks. Can anyone see any major things i've done wrong and suggest remedies? I want to buy a bunch of feminised seeds but will hold off in case I kill them again.

Although it's still technically spring, the temp in Perth is hanging around the high 20°C range. Is it too late in the season to be germinating outdoors?

Yep I agree with rrat, I would not use a humidity dome in the sun and probably not at all this time of year. They are mainly for clones imo.

30 hrs in water sounds a little too much, I like to crack em in a moist Chux towel so they get a little oxygen as well

Everything else sounds good though. Keep crackin seeds till Christmas I reckon :thumbsup:
