Best reflector for a cooltube

Gday fellas, i got a cooltube with a reflector attached over the top of the tube.

I reckon i lose some reflectivity bcos of the gap between the lamp and the reflector

I wanted to use some reflective material inside the actual tube itself and was

wondering the best shit to use... Strips of silver stickytape stuck inside the tube?

or thin sheet of aluminum cut to size and bent into a half pipe and attached inside or

over the top of the tube, many ideas not sure which way to go?.. cheers FC.

 

Btw, this is a kick ass forum, my beverage stomach has grown about 6 inches cos i dont get off the comp much anymore.

"A con?" That's a novel one.

 

Your best bet is a piece of pebble tone aluminium inserted into the tube. You should be able to buy a sheet of it from hardware shop or even ask your local hydro shop if they have any old ali reflectors you can buy to cut the piece out from.

 

Another option is to remove the external shade and affix the cooltube to a large adjusta-shade style reflector. These can be hung directly underneath with good coverage and nice and close to the underside of the reflector. I have a setup with something similar to this, but using a monstrous old adjusta shade style reflector (krop lite I think it is), nearly totally covers the room 1.2x1.2 and gives a nice even distribution.

The pic of my "cooltube with reflector" i bought off

the net had some of that pebblestone alum in it but it turned out another case of

product dont match picture..

 

Yeh i seen the adjust-a-wing mod al. b uses with his cooltube and will prob

go that way when i free up some cash... you made my mind up, ta.

If you are using a 400w put it under a medium adust a shade for 600w or 1000w go with the medium one - Best light usage the built-in reflector is very poor in light reflection
