Planning on some outdoor grows

Recommended Posts

Just a local young bongrat from Western Sydney. :D

Sick of buying the stuff at inflated unregulated prices. :)

I've got access to seeds and have been reading alot about Cannabis in general and browsing around the forum/web for info.

Just gotta get the ball rolling to start the grow.

The old woman cant know about it, but I've got a great hiding spot that'll get direct sunlight all day.

I've got a few little plastic pots ready to go. The holes in the bottom of em will do fine to drain all the water out

Gotta get some potting mix and nutes though. I wanna know the best way to germinate seeds as I get told different things

by different people. Just wondering is it true if you throw a couple of seeds in a glass of water and the good ones will sink?

Not to sure with all the bullshit people go on about.

What would be the best potting mix, nutes and pots to use as I'll just go to the local bunnings and pick it all up.

Thanks anyways =]

First off. Greetings and welcome.

Just wondering is it true if you throw a couple of seeds in a glass of water and the good ones will sink?

Second. If that were the case, I wouldn't have had the headaches I've had to date! :)

Personally, I like popping my seeds in a glass of water and then carefully transferring them into jiffy pellets. It's worked for me so far. I tried starting them off in the jiffys but had nothing but failures.

Everyone's got their own preference. :)

I'm probably not the best person to be giving advice anyway. I'm a serial plant killer, albeit reformed.

Hang about, and maybe wander over to "Dr Livingstone I Presume?"..... *hint hint*

Someone with more knowledge and skill is bound to pop up. :D

Best of luck with it all.

I use the glass of water germination method with total success

the good ones don't sink - that's crap, if you place them in the water gently then none should sink

Make sure your potting mix is good and not full of bark etc and drains very well as MJ likes good drainage

good luck with your grow when it happens - don't leave it too long, summers nearly here!

Lanky mentioned Bunnings earlier on and they carry Yates Professional potting mix that I'm using due to recommendations.

Yes, I think it benefits from added Perlite when used in pots inside, maybe 30%, but this may not be necessary outside. I put some pots outside before some young girls went bush, and without Perlite, water retention was spot on for watering every few days.

Michael Starks in his book 'Marijuana Potency' quotes and old Italian saying:

Hemp will grow anywhere, but without manure will be fit for no use, though grown in heaven itself'

.

The Yates Pro includes Dynamic Lifter (and I caution about adding more, at least when it's fresh), wetting agents, bioagents...
