First Outdoor grow!

Recommended Posts

well first of all I didn't take a cutting from a secondary or later growth, I cut the central stem of the plant once it reached about 15 cm tall, so I don't know how much difference that made in terms of nutriants etc, i would assume the thicker main stem had more in it to metabilise than thin new growth, i clipped the bottom sets of leaves and topped the tip so there was basically 4 leaves and a tiny bit of new growth under (see pic below: this is when i first put it in the greenhouse dome with my chilli seeds :))

I didn't have any steralising equipment so i just ran the scisors under the stove flame to kill anything on them

-First i soaked my jiffy pellet in a bowl of tap water and after it had fully absorbed i gave it a gentle squeeze to release any extra water, as not to rot the stem, then i used a stick, (a pen, screwdriver or skewer, anything to make a hole about 3/4 deep).

-made the cut, scraped about3-4cm down one side of the stem (not half of the stem, just what the blade was touching) so i could see the inner white layer

-dipped in clonex and swirled around a bit, let it drip off once (takes a few seconds to drip since it's pretty thick stuff)

-carefully placed the clone in the hole making sure the clonex was still on the wound and then gently squeeze around the jiffy to close up the hole around the stem and pinched the top into the stem too to keep it up right, you would loose a little bit of water when squeezing too but that didn't matter.

- mist the leaves and the clear plastic dome at least 2 times a day or when the dome was dry.

the leaves never wilted on their own, but after a week or so the bottom leaves started to look a bit patchy, i could have left them there but perhaps it was better in the long run so i chopped them off leaving the new shoots to grow from them, i checked a few times but roots never showed until the other day when 8 thick roots came out nice and hairy and white

awesome bro :(

i don't have the luxury of cloning indoors so wish me luck on my clones they are a little bigger than yours... well actually a lot bigger.... one side branch became to clones :freak: so im hoping these work so i can use em in fem seed project

hello everyone

i need help with my plants.. they have been growing for 2 months and at the 8 week stage they were going fine until i decided to move them out of a spot where they get 3-4 hours of per day to a spot where they are exposed to about 12 hours per day

the third day they were up there they went all limpy and some leaves burnt up.they have been back at the same 3-4 hour spot and havent grown at all for 1 month.

i need to find a way to ease them into a good 10- 12 hours of sunlight per day spot where they wont get burnt up. any help/feedback much appreciated :(

:freak: Bit rude just jumping into someones thread with questions about your own plants mate :) Do you have any advice at all for this member?

just a little update on how my plants are going, glad to say they're doing superb!

we'll start with my young clone and it's mother plant, just 5 days after potting the clone there is no sign of mal nutrition, nevermind that dark spot on the leaf, it happened after i oversprayed it with seasol in the seed raiser, i dont want to chop the leaves just yet, the chewed leaf was also from before i made a clone of her

new foliage is healthy, yet there is no sign of sex in this plant yet, since i noticed how quickly the males develop i think it's a she

same goes for the mother plant:

repotted her a couple of days ago, stems developing nicely, no deficiencies yet..can't see any gender yet

three main stems at least double the size as last week

and a shot from underneath showing the stem training, i might get some copper coated bonsai wire and gently bend her down further removing the need for string (very Bright and Obvious string!) and a better way to train her, i'll get thin wire, i have a piece of thicker wire i tried but it looks like it will be too much pressure on those young stems

Next up are my Males:

Nothing much to report here, a bit of extra height and some bigger pollen sacs, i need to get these babies far away from my girls, but i'm not tossing em.

Here is a shot of the stems on one of my big girls, plenty of growth! This shot is of the upper stem i tied down for side growth, check out those node stems, getting pretty long, i'll have to cut her shorter if she doesn't slow down!

The other girl grew about 15-20cm higher bringing her up to 150cm, leaves are still getting bigger, much bigger than my hand! but no significant change yet, it must be a late bloomer.

Ok This baby is fast becoming my favourite! i think the others are jealous and that's why they're growing so damn big to get my attention

Remember when i topped her a few weeks back, the pics are in Post 6 she grew double the height in 5 days!

Look at this beauty! she's a bit higher than my knee from the top soil of the pot, I reckon she's got another 3 feet in her yet!

And check out how tight those nodes are! should i do any trimming on the bottom??

post-36943-1260775661_thumb.jpg

is this a typical lowrider trait? thick, dense and big leaves? I cant wait to see her flower!

I'm really not doing much to keep them going, just H20!! the soil here must be spot on!
