All Done With Mirrors....

Recommended Posts

Indy, sorry for my obvious ineptitude and lack of google-fu but do you mind posting the link?

I closed off the browser that had the info yesterday and gave up on it. Because it was fairly evident to me that the question was presented for arguement sake.

The information is out there, some of it was explained on Wikipedia and the other was on some yankie science site. Anyway, I highly doubt you have an inability to navigate yourself around google. It was apparent you managed to find that link here of that little plant and OSA search function is more indepth than what google is.

Google "photons light meter" and go for it. Fair chance you'll source the info you require pretty quickly

then may I suggest that we are 'all done with mirrors' ?

:-)

no-one has argued against my suggestion that 'scattered' (like what you get from white paint) light is more suitable to our purpose than 'coherent' (like what you get from mirrors) so it would seem most agree that though SeaHippies 'discovery' of mirrors will work there are reasons why others avoid such, preferring scattered light.

When I was running a 12*24 garage full of the stuff I used 'whitewash', the real stuff, fat+soda, because it not only has high reflectivity (and dispersion, or scatter) but also anti-fungal/bacterial properties.

so again

are we 'all done with mirrors' :-)

Well, different people look at different aspects on differing light sources, to go about to give them ideas of what may work best for them. I didn't chase all this scientific mumbo jumbo to figure out what best would suit me. I'm a bit of a simple bloke and opted you use OSA's Lighting & Ventilation Reccomendation Calculator, with the help of various members here. To what might suit me best for my first sucessful personal grow indoors.

But if others want delve into the science of it all, good luck to them. Just that I've noticed over the years it's not necessary to achieve reasonable results. I'd rather learn from mistakes and the wisdom of others. Than to kid myself and try 'n break into new ground.

But yeah, as for Mirrors 'n piss poor lighting. It's an avenue I won't be venturing down, any time soon... :D

:)
