drugs are not legal in Amsterdam.

Cannabis is not legal, but if a shop sells small amounts only for personal use and it is not near a school, the police do not bother. as soon as there are hard drugs involved it is different, not only illegal but also punished

Crime rate; 170 per 1000 people (2008)

i was wondering what it was like over at amsterdam since weed is legal because i hardly have heard weed related crimes..

Er.... Cannabis is NOT legal in the Netherlands mate - As Frazz said

Though it is a MAJOR part of the national income - It is still closely monitored and the police do act when shops (cafes) get out of line - Try GooGle for some info

They are also experimenting with drugs of addiction (Smack etc) with free prescribed heroin for registered addicts and medically supervised 'shooting galleries'

as frazz says it is illegal in the dam (against most beliefs) but "personal use" is tollerated and thats transformed into the coffee shops today last time i was there they just changed the law again and seperated coffee/alcohole to seperate venues/rooms

crime where i stay in the dam (red light district) is thru the roof.... stealing muggings but like any euopean country ya gotta be on ya toes

from what i saw heaps and heaps of illegals and they all hang at the canals hassling every tourist that has to cross their

bridge to get to the hookers! money, ciggs, weed they normally try to slow u down with the sale of pills or speed(both being grout from canals)

why nyways when u can smoke yourself stupid get spastic on mushrooms and shag euro whores :peace: B) :P

only once did i feel unsafe and it was my fault i left our hostel alone at 3am droped by a hooker :peace: on the way back i was followed by two i walked them on a random track confronted them then they ran :peace:

easy money me thinks just watch ha back and travel two min at night and it is heaven on earth

Amsterdam is pretty crazy but no more dangerous than any other city really. I was offered coke a few times, "no thanks" and they keep on walking, no hassles at all. I would recommend the shrooms if you haven't tried them before. The walls feel like they're caving in on you! :peace: If you like a quiet place to smoke I'd recommend the Old Amsterdam. It's not a 'club' kinda deal, it's actually a cannabis only coffeeshop unlike some of the others that sell alcohol and have tobacco smoking areas.
