Cannabis potency from-(calaxis-trichomes)

Recommended Posts

Hi all I have a question about -(calaxis-trichomes) – I have read a little on the subject but. I am wanting to know if a female plant has more calaxis is this a sign that the plant is going to be stronger (THC) than the other’s and if it had minimal calaxis could still turn out to be a massive (thc) developer?. As I have read people saying that they have plants with hardly any calaxis that have turned out better than the ones with abundant amounts of calaxis.

My question…. is this true?

1) Say a white widow plant with not many calaxis. -Vs- a strain not as refined as white widow in strength (THC) but it had more calaxis would be stronger.

2) Or 2 diff kinds of white widow from 2 diff companies one had heaps of calaxis one has nearly none but is stronger.

I know the question is a long one any help would be greatly appreciated just to put the subject to rest as it were.

Thanks in advance Sham. :yahoo:

So far as I know, while trichomes and THC are linked, they are not dependent on each other...you could have 2 plants, one with a LOT of tricomes and one with fewer tricomes...yet the one with fewer tricomes could still be the stronger smoke...there are just fewer of them.

Of course I could be plain wrong!...wait and see what other replies you get...

medi usa has it right.. the amount of trichomes doesnt mean the plant will be any higher in THC%.. the cannabinoids contained in the resin gland have various %'s of different cannabinoids...the THC is just one of these canabinoids.. so the potency is really more strain dependent.. to a point.. the drying and curing makes a huge difference in THC break down...

if a plant has a high caylx production.. doesnt mean that plant will be more potent.. it may how ever get you more stoned becuase of the number of resin glands... more resin.. would mean a higher THC intake per cone... on the fact that theres just more resin... which would seam the strain is higher in THC...

the potency is taken from the resin gland.. a plant may contain a higher THC ratio and have fewer resin glands..

im not sure if ive explained this well at all.. but im sure youll get my drift...

Thanks for the fast replies guys I thought that it might be a fact of strain vs. calaxis

So if you had 2 plants of the same strand and the same potency if there was one with more calaxis it would be stronger than the one with less calaxis as there would be more resin development .

On a different side note is calax and resin development on a plant buy plant basis or the stand just grown in better conditions will show better resin and calax development.

I think…. Anyone else care to weigh in on the subject?

Thanks for the info guys also Sukanomiskunk I understand what you mean and thanks again to all.
