Can someone explain how to top a plant into a bush

Recommended Posts

reddevil6,

I'd do it pretty much the same as Chronmasta said... except maybe adding in to tie the side branches down once the get around the same height as where you tipped it originally, then when they get back near that if you want or have to, then tip those side branches.

reddevil6,

I only top it once (usually giving me 4 main branches), then I pump the water & after about a month I add the cow shit formula I make into the ground for it so that the branches can get up to about 6 foot & are still green (very flexible & not wooding up). Then I tie them out in a cross so that the plant is about 8 to 10 foot across, and I keep on pumping the cow shit into it & I double the water until about a month before picking. It'll usually get between 6 & 10 foot tall & full of nice sized buds. That gets me about 4 or 5 pound per plant. But I'm lucky enough to have a good natural water supply in the bush.

Yes as much as i would love a 6-10ft plant i cant cos im growing in my backyeard i was hopeing to keep it bout 5-5.5ft tall and bushy i will be tieing all the branches down via twine tied to screws on the side of my pot.

BTW ive toped it once so far and it seems to have givin me 4 main branches the 2 on the node below where i topped it (not the very top one the next one down) are just as tall as the 2 main ones

reddevil6,

In a pot hey? That'll limit your size. You could keep tieing down the branches while they're still green & that'll push them outwards a bit, other than that you could get away with it. You'll just have to top them when the get about 5 foot if you have to... that's another advantage of growing in the bush!! But you should get a nice yield off it anyway. Hope you do well.
