Taking the temp in the correct place

When trying to work out the temp of a grow cabinet, do you take the temp from where the plants sit (under the light) or do you take the temp from the top of the grow cabinet?

 

Seems like a stupid and ez question but i dunno the answer

 

I assume you take the temp from where the plants sit but if thats the case i have some heat problems

Temps should be taken at the canopy ... tops of the plants...

but really there should be something in there moving air around and most of the volume should be similar. The sensed heat at light level will be higher even with circulation, particularly if the sensor (electronic/mecury/alchohol) is subject to radiant heat.

I take it from under the lights, the area where most of the buds are.

 

In the canopy it can get into the high 30ies withouit any problems.

Just remember to monitor the temp in the root zone .... keep the temp in the root zone below 28 max.
