what to do with seedlings

here is a pic of some Malawi Gold babies coming up. Just in soil in cups with holes drilled in bottom.

 

I was gonna pull them after they had 2 or 3 nodes, wash the soil off the roots and wack them in bubblers. But maybe I'd be better off transpanting them into say 150mm pots of soil, flowering clones and from that picking which one to keep.

 

transplanting from soil to bubbler seems a bit risky to me. also, how long do you think they could go in those cups before I need to tranplant them, just until they show signs of not doing well?

Hey pipeman,

 

I transplant outta them little cups not long after that. when the first true leaves are about 1cm long I transplant them, because the root likes to grow long from seed. when the above ground part of the plant is about 1" high the tap root is meant to be about 6" long in ideal conditions.

 

I wouldn't use soil before bubblers. Personally I'd go the sexing and then using the female clones method. If you plan on collecting many strains from seed, then its the best way to go. I can grow every female from 3 packs of seed under 1 600w light this way. and get reasonable yields compared to the old days of growing big males. But if you are a paranoid guy at risk of being busted just chuck em in bubblers. But make sure you can fit every seed in the bubblers, that windy seedling you leave out will probably have ended up being the best.

 

Its also alot more work and electricity to use the clones method. But in the end it will give you a better turnaround.

 

Have fun with them seeds in a wardrobe I'd say sexed clones in a SOG might probably be the only method for you. I've never grown any SA sats so I dont know though.

yeah, I'll be tipping and using bonza bud. see how it goes. apparently they will take 14 weeks or so to finish.
