Cannabis laws to be repealed

Recommended Posts

Thats what I used to think in the 70s when I was at uni and waiting for the stupid old farts to die and get replaced with the free-thinkers of my own age. Now the new generation of my age are just as crap as the ones before them, and I've no reason to believe that the next generation will be any better.

That is why re-education of the public is of utmost importance. If people stop beleiving the myths about cannabis and start seeing the FACTS it will start to spread. May take a whole generation, who knows. But the re-education has begun and will be continued, by me, until i die. And hopefully carried on by others. Spread the good word and it will continue on its way. Provide science backed evidence and people will listen. Humans, for the most part, dont argue with science.

does this mean that places like joynt venture will have to shut down??

places up here in QLD still sell shit, just have to be much more sneaky. exotic salad pourers etc. Many things related to cannabis smoking can also be used for the smoking of other legal herbs which is why this is outrageous. I could use a glass bong to smoke demiana(sp?) not that they would take the time to check.

ALP - http://www.wa.alp.org.au/

Liberal - http://www.wa.liberal.org.au/

Greens WA - http://wa.greens.org.au/

They all have "Contact Us" links from their homepages, where anybody here who cares to can lodge their protest. Remember we only get the government that we deserve, and that means if we don't bother writing in how we feel then we have no right to complain about what they do to us.

Thanks

Bump, make a difference people tell em your thoughts.

Or even pretend to cross over to the dark side and try and get elected, with the current idiots we see in power honestly ask yourself would you be as good as most and better than some, pays and conditions A1 could be for YOU!

Sadly given the unpresedented unrestricted sales of alcohol we see in this generation and the levels of slight brain damage seen in many, I am not optimistic we are going to make much progress.

Back in my mums time you could only purchase alcohol with a meal at what she called Nightclubs? WTF and things closed earlier and if you started acting obnoxious they had no legal problems sorting you out, unlike the binge fests we have today where you have your special rights and can act up quite bad and still be protected!

End rant

I'm an old fella and I have to say I don't share any sense of optimism about the legalisation of cannabis in Australia. I was there in the 60's and 70's when there did seem like there may be a chance. If it happens I suspect it will occur through an end to the drug war by countries such as Mexico and Columbia and through the US (tolerant med laws and Obama telling the Feds to stay out of state politics). The problem is that cannabis falls under the same treaty as all the other illegal drugs and to legalise it means undermining the entire single narcotics convention - and the UN and others have far too many vested interests in ensuring drug laws remain in place. It seems to me that these interests are winning by demonising cannabis as a hard drug so to argue for the legalisation of a hard drug becomes far less viable than to argue that cannabis differs from other drugs. In fact, they should be applauded for their latest dose of Reefer Madness because in under a decade we have gone from a soft hippy drug to a "deadly" drug named "skunk".

Enough of the academia - I live in WA and really none of this surprises me. The Libs are brainless morons but then so was Labor (other than their cannabis laws).

I wonder also whether the ban on bongs and other paraphernalia will be applied to hydroponic equipment and fertilisers - legally it seems it could.

And yes, Joint Venture are now pretty much out of business.

I appreciate your comment there Mulla-ray :)

Along with the rest of the comments also.

I agree there seems little hope for great change as things stand ... But I am always an optimist if there is anyway I can be ...

Too well should we all know the old sloganized "Our generation helped to cause the problems , the hope lies with the next generation and the ones beyond that" scenario ... >:(

What a Fucking Cop-out!!! :bongon:

It's because of the mentality that remains the same that these crazy ways of society perpetuate to exist. lol

Oh , btw ofc this is not directed at anyone :) ... but still along Mulla-ray's comments shall I continue ...

I too see the trend ... and if not from my own experience it's been passed along to me by others ... each generation hopes for better from the next one ... therefore the strive to educate OUR children well practiced by most considerate parents and teachers.

To say that that "Hope" has somewhat dwindled or somehow failed is quite defeatist I would think ... It's a slowly geneterative process but there seems to be evidence that the more and more evidence provided though educative means is yielding more and more awareness in ranging sectors of society ... especially expressing itself in the young people these days.

I might be being to broad on the subject but as I mentioned ... Change itself isn't a black or white or numbered process it is a gradual "awakening" of a system .. the process of which can then be refined into revolutionary thought , exploration , collectivity and action.

I'm probably starting to veer "off topic" ...

I had a plan and a 2nd part to my comment ... but as luck would have it , I've lost my train of thought (toot toot)

As some have said ... At least the whole issue of Cannabis has become a "Hot Topic" now (especially in these forums for some reason ^_^ ) ... thereby it can be discussed even ever more openly ... possibly moreso than years gone by.

The Laws they propose for WA are stupendously innapropriate ... but no more so than what occurs in every other state ...

The Police Target people who are sometimes considered "Alternative" ... and the range of this "categorization" is sparse and varied ... to leave it in the hand of the Cops who are already known to persecute what are often percieved to be "minority groups" without probable cause at any where and at any time ... ... ... ... Any reason? ... seems to me like it's been that way for a long time ...

(P.s. If anyone has any catalouged news-stories about the 70's Police Bashings of "alternates" in OZ at the time ... please let me know)

That said , It is very worrying to hear of such a hasty (mob-element) type of idea proposed at this time given the current scheme of things ... It looks like there will be no discussion? .. they will just pass the new laws?? :/

Where is the so-called Democracy? ... you know , the one that most people thnk you should vote for? ... :D

Aside from the 2-Party Politics and preferential voting ... shouldn't THE PEOPLE be consulted in some of these processes ? ... shouldn't THE PEOPLE get a say in what Political and Law Reforms are to be passed? ... DIscussion , Debate , National Polls , Voting .... And THEN possibly to consider legislation??? ... ffs , and even some smart people think we should still vote in this Pseudo-democracy the way it is ... geeez :yinyang:

Ahem ...

Anyway ... Look forward to ranting another time ^_^

Stay Vigilant ...

and Cheerz :applause:

OK I'm a bit baked right now so I'll try my best. I study law (very badly I must say) and I don't want to seem cynical and the pendulum is swinging all the time so there is hope but I believe it comes from the horrendous slaughter of civilians due to the drug war. What it will need to come down to is the rest of the world telling the largest prison industrial nation in the world (an overly aggressive country as China and Russia have just coined the US as they go about slaughtering the greenback and hopefully bankrupting the US) to go to hell and take their violence and stick it where the sun doesn't shine:-) I think the world is beginning to become very sick of the US and their violence and this can only be a good thing. Hopefully their dollar becomes as mighty as the peso and the Americans are forced to work for the Chinese:-) Karma is a mighty powerful thing and no country more than the US deserves a dose of karma. that I have faith in.

Wow man , ...

I don't disagree much there ... If I was to expand apon your arguments backed by all the research I've "discovered" ... I could win a debate if on the pro-active side aruguing the Ultimate Doom of the Planet and Human civilization ...

There is no doubt that the Global Menace pretty much has it's agenda sorted ... As long as things continue the way they are , the Mass majority will again become slaves for a totalitarian regime ... Most ALL will Submit , just look at our lives today and say we are independant ^_^

This Will happen , in fact it HAS Happened ... but there will be a breaking point ... if not environmental disaster the masses (People) will be the biggest menace the authorities have to face ... It is very close to being a One World Government with Martial Law declared for all already ... once it is fully established the natural design of this seemingly "Cause and Effect" world will crumble ... There will be a vast minority that have the ability to organize an Up-Rising ... and yet again the People will be set free ... The more we can educate the subbordinate masses the more people will be able to "snap out" of their current enslavement and when the time comes ... FIght on and even to the death to reclaim Freedom for Humanity.

The Only Other Option is COmplete Destruction of the Planet ... and think about it , if you were a pissed off Old President with only a few years Max to lve anway ... wouldn't you want to press that Big Red Button?? ... and take everyone else with you???

After even all , Life isn't very fair is it!? :yinyang:

The trick is to wake the fuck Up! ... Now! ... and be ready to fight for your rights in ways you only heard of from the veterans and moreso ... The Government or God doesn't love us ... These things are a farce to distract you from the truth ... and ltimatly ... to keep you ignorant and subserviant.

DO everyone a favour and stop being an enemy of humanity right now ... It doesn't take a Rockets Scientist to know that ... but we might need one to reprogram the "Patriot" missiles once they are really patriotized :bongon:

Just typing words as they come now , hopefully some sentences were produced amongst the ramble worth noting.

Don't Believe The Hype.

Democracy is a farce you are voting for faschists.

Just Say No to Government State Control ... and if you just can't help yourself ... at least vote for something meaningful ... you know , like Homer , or Bargearse , Or God or maybe Ozzy Ozbourne ... maybe that will distract you long enough to go on without you ... and finally oneday we can be free.

Quit your Job Quit your voting ... Demand justice and respect ...

Society in It's current form is no more than glorified corruption ... So easy isn't it to play into their hands ...

Surely this is an easy strategy to beat , no violence needed once the people slowly discover that they have been lied to they're entire life ...

The System we are forced to live in now still does allow quite alot , artistically people have been speaking out for years ... everyone lves the music yet they continue to submit as slaves to the "workforce" (remind you of anything that term? ... howabout "Armed Force" ," Defence Force" "Police Force" ... The "workforce is at the lowest echelon , it exists to perpetuate all possible for the Force imposed ... always empowering the wealthy and leaving limited oppurtunity to the rest of us ...

It is not about skill , It is not about work ethic ... the better you are at working for "The Man" the better "the man" provides for you ... The man has vested interestests ... because of already owning declared wealth it is easier to invest and multiply that "wealth" ... The money doesn't make itself ... so who has to do the whard work to make it happen? ... WOuldn't serve them for pennies , water and Bread? .... How 'bout $'s and fast food ... maybe you could afford to be indebted to a mortgage?

WOrk all your life to leave a legacy to your kids maybe ... The Rates aren';t ever going to go down ... the Tax collector will never give up until it's life is at an end and no other ties can replicate such evil.

Debt is Slavery.

There will have to be bloodshed ... and lots of it ... depending on what side your on (How could you not be of the people once it becomes apparent to all that a genocidal dictatorship has been established) ... There has never been any semblence of fairness or democracy in this country ... sure women got to vote ... but monkeys still get GM foods and toxic water and Sheeple get get the same not to mention the noxious air and dangerous food-additives and pharmaceutical poisons.

I forget what I was saying ... but I do remember one thing ...

Cheerz all and stay vigilant ^_^
