Cannabis bust on Granite Belt

Recommended Posts

A COMPREHENSIVE set of “how to” instructions helped a Stanthorpe man develop an extensive hydroponic cannabis growing system on a property at The Summit.

But the 38-year-old was busted this week when Stanthorpe police raided his operation, seizing more than 20 cannabis plants and a collection of drug-use equipment.

Stanthorpe Police senior sergeant Mark Ireland said the cannabis ranged in size from young seedlings to metre high plants.

“It is difficult to estimate the value of these plants, but they would have been worth thousands of dollars,” he said.

“This was a joint CIB and police operation and we have charged a person in relation to the raid.”

He said the man would face charges stemming from producing a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug.

“He has also been charged with possession of a very detailed set of instructions on how to set up a hydroponic cannabis system,” Snr Sgt Ireland said.

Police raided the Ridge Road premises at midday on Tuesday after a tip off.

“We executed the warrant and discovered lights, chemicals, scales and other hydroponic equipment in what was obviously a well developed system,” he said.
