The Mainstream Media's 5 Favorite Marijuana Myths

Recommended Posts

I watch TV sometimes if there's something of particular interest on, but otherwise a lot of the time i feel like smashing it to pieces.

I am at the same point, most of the time I find TV nauseatingly boring, stupid beyond comprehension or just plain disturbing, now days there are only a few select programs I will watch if I have nothing else to do when they are on (not often these days).

What worries me more is the effect is has on my kids, my eldest is so sucked in by advertising he will turn around and start telling me we should be buying X because the lady on TV said it was the best, or how we need to get this thing because he saw the ad and it's so cool ect ect ect...

BRAINWASHING!!!!!!!

Just wish the missus would let me "break" the aerial again :yinyang:

Democracy is always problematic in that a democracy only functions properly if the people are informed and the media is truthful. Of course the politicians involved don't want a properly functioning democracy because then they'd actually be beholden to the people they represent, the mass media requires political good grace in order to consolidate their power and wealth, which requires political complicity, so one hand washes the other. The media ensures that the people are motivated by fear and stupidity, this suits the politicians who find such a voting public easy to manipulate to suit their own ends, and the media in turn recieve the patronage of the political establishment (look up cross-media ownership laws if this is previously unknown to you).

Basically, the problem is inherent in the system, to educate people enough to want to change would require the co-operation of the media who in turn are largely beholden to the body politic, who have no desire at all to change the status quo.

I could continue, but it would be at the risk of this turning into an exceedingly bitter rant. :peace:
