So a mate is keelhauling some seeds to me.

 

3 or 4 of unknown breed that were part of a rough mix he got hold of once upon a time.

I've read through some guides about how to germinate. That part should be all sweet i think

 

Now i'm all cloudy regarding the next part o' de process

 

i have easy access to a ton of fertilisers/potting mixes/growing stuffs so getting hold of any

non-pot specific magical grow formulas isn't an issue.

 

I understand such a small amount of (possibly old) seeds is probably not ideal for getting started

but it's a light hearted attempt. Something i've wanted to do for yonks.

 

I'll be planting in pots and having them grow outside during the day, possibly indoors for

a few hours with a light if need be.

 

need some tips

 

my main confusion lies with determining sex of the plants. Newbie question: any way to ensure

females?

welcome to ozstoners. i just seen this post and had no replys for 4 days so ill try my best to help you.

now 3 - 4 seeds is still fine, u said there possibly old so what u should do is try and squish them a bit with your fingers if they pop means shit seed throw away if there solid there good.

 

and sorry to say but no theres no way of ensuring female you just have to wait for them to show there sex then just chop down the males.

Hey Jurrbs, First and foremost DO NOT squash the seeds. Peeps have cracked seeds here that have been flogging around for awhile so no drama there.

If you have a read around you will find some good grows, indoor and out.

Follow one that takes your fancy and if you get stuck give a yell.

turns out i got hold of a heap more than 3 seeds.

 

16 or so

 

at the moment i have 3 germinating in a cabinet above the fridge, one has some root

springing.

 

i have plans to chuck them in some seed raising mix tomorrow before work.

 

they're gonna be put in some seed raising mix til i see some sprouting

 

is it adviseable to rinse the mix first?

jurrbs read through the forums you should be able to find a answer to most of your questions.

I would suggest throwing some perlite in the soil as it will help stop your plants from drying out.

Go read up on growing outdoors!
