ph question

Recommended Posts

I've got myself a lovely, healthy-looking White Skunk growing indoors in nutes. Its a few weeks old, growing fast with huge leaves and a very short stork. My ph meter arrived in the mail today and when I tested the nutes they came up as ph 5.6, which strikes me as a tad on the low side.

So I have 2 questions,

1. What is the ideal ph range that I should be chasing?

2. Is there something cheap I can get from the supermarket to raise ph (like baking soda for example). This because I'm a bit of a skinflint, but also too lazy to get out to a hydro shop if there's no need. The nutes I'm using are canna, if that matters.

Thanks heaps for help anybody can offer

Does your bottle of nutes not state the pH they should be at?

When I was using a recirculating system I would mix my nutes (dutchmaster) at pH5.5 at would let the resi range between 5.5 and 6.3 before adjusting down (my pH was always slowly rising).

If needed I use baking soda for pH up and hydrochloric acid for pH down. You can get hydrochloric acid at the hardware store and is dirt cheap as you only need a few drops at a time.

My mistake, the nutes brand I'm using is "nf COCO" in 2 parts.

On the packaging it says target ph is 6.0 to 6.4, however it seems that they are talking about flowers and vegetables rather than Skunk.

Anyway do you think I should ignore their instructions and stay with the 5.5 t0 6.0 range that folk here have suggested?

The plant does look very healthy, large green leaves, very thick foliar growth.

Cheers
