Growing In The Topsy-Turvy Grow bag

I have grown tomatos in some thing like it and they were small and rather point less. my tomatos in the dirt grew 5ft tall with support and those dam topsy turvy plants did not do better then 2ft with so few tomatos that i just got rid of them. I am still drowning in tomatos from my garden and I only have 3 plants. I think they are a neat gimik that is all. but if you can get good plants I would look in to some thing like that for a hydro set up? some thing with the light at the bottom? that might be an idea.
