Would medical marijuana really be a good thing?

Recommended Posts

People tell me that medical marijuana would be a better replacement for many other more harmful drugs

But if this was allowed to be controlled by pharmaceutical companies and doctors, would marijuana then become another thing that gets manipulated

I wouldn't mind hearing what other people think of this, it has been running around in my head for a while

Medical marijuana solves my eye pain associated with glaucoma thus retains my sight but getting a regular supply is my problem. Some health proffessionals tell me to use it whilst others say oh no it will cause all these other problems but personally none of them compare to going blind needlessly

There is no valid reason to keep marijuana illegal, it already is an accepted medicine to many people with a multitude of uses.

As for manipulation, well most things are manipulated when money is concerned.

Medical cannabis oil was sold over the counter many moons ago. This was until the big pharmasutical companies clicked that if the average joe grew their own, that there would be no financial gain. Products pulled and cannabis became a prohibited plant.

Now, the pharmasutical companies are making man made synthetic cannabis compounds in the form of Marinal and Sativex. Im sure in time, more will become available.

It does not take "Blind Freddy" to see what is going on. We need to do something about it. The good news is that with the good old US of A in recent times making way for medicinal cannabis, as per history dictates, Australia will soon follow big brother cause we dont have the balls to take our own initiative.

The DEA has received four petitions from companies that have products that are currently the subject of ANDAs (abbreviated new drug applications) under review by the FDA. ...While the petitioners cite that their generic products are bioequivalent to Marinol, their products do not meet schedule III current definition provided above. Therefore, these firms have requested that 21 CFR 1308.13(g)(1) be expanded to include naturally derived or synthetically produced dronabinol."

DEA moves to legalize THC in Big Pharma's pills while simultaneously making it illegal for anyone else to grow, sell or possess THC. The DEA, you see, is working to change the classification of THC from a schedule I substance (like street heroin) to a schedule III drug (pharmaceuticals). So if Big Pharma grows its own marijuana plants, extracts the THC and puts it into a "pot pill," those pills will be perfectly legal. They're already FDA approved, actually, when made with the synthetic version of THC.

This is obviously a change in tune from the Pharma companies, I think somebody is worried about the future of pharmacutical drugs now medical marijuana is semi legal, and growing fast does sombody want a piece of the pie. Im ok if they regulate it like tobacco ie you cant grow your own (need a permit from ATO (you cant grow your own)) it would be shit cheap, but I rather they didn't because then they only have their say in what we want But I say No No No to pharma companies regulating it from 30 pills down to one I doubt they would like this.

I believe in medical marijuana but not in a pharmicutical company distributing it.

I believe it is a grey area. It's bad because of what pharmaceutical companies might do, but it's good in the way that it is once step close to potentially being completely legal in every respect, that being the case I believe most people would start growing it like parsley. If that should ever be the case, people should become more worried about kids stealing more than just the apples from their garden.
