the Baroniser, V1

Recommended Posts

remembering poking around the cupboard the other day there was one of those small 40W incandescent globes in there. It not having another use I thought I might repurpose it. It's one of those ~40mm globes on a standard bayonet fitting.

A hacksaw took the top of the bayonet fitting off between the glass and the 'spikes' of the bayonet. A screwdriver was then used to break the filament holder. A tip seen from a link caused me to put a couple of teaspoons of salt in the globe and shake buggery out of it to clean the interior surface, and rinse thoroughly.

Ends up the cap from a small bottle of Jack&cola fits quite well around a bayonet fitting if you 1st put a couple of layers of leccy tape around the bayonet. I had several such caps handy.

The breathing tube is the 'protector' from 'light bands' issued to Olympic ceremony attendees, knew I'd find a purpose for a 1/4in tube one day.

Drop in a bit of mull, heat it over a candle, but I'm quickly finding that you have to be careful with the heat else you overcook the mull and that ain't a good thing.

I actually thought about that but thought that the temp necessary to vape the mull was well below what would produce harmful gasses from the AL/leccy.

Maybe I'm wrong.

The leccy tape between the bayonet and cap could be removed and just the bit of leccy on the outside used to hold cap to globe. Tape would then be _mostly_ outside the 'air flow', leaving just the bayonet itself as a potential problem.

All such ideas will be considered for V2. Thank You.
