I should have known it was a slip of the tounge so to speak. I'll admit I should have realised that instead of biting.

For the record though I was just taking the piss about hating the poms, I should have been clearer about that I spose considering the subject[The idea of disliking anyone based on race alone is pathetic]

 

In some ways I also agree about giving the communitys more control over health/justice, not sure about complete autonomy but somewhere inbetween. Something like old school solutions to new age problems, shit, they cant do any worse than the current do gooders.

 

On the other hand it can go very wrong, like the situation we have in Tas with one group of aboriginals laying claim to being the only true Tasmanian aboriginal desendants and were given the power to decide who can claim to be aboriginal in Tasmania. Apparently based around a handfull of surnames and if you cant prove your link via documentation you arnt considered[thats if you fall outside their list of "approved" surnames] Problem with that policy is the known fact that the government of the time made little or no documentation of the aboriginal people on births/deaths/relocations ect, not to mention the stigma attached was so great that some families denied any connection at all, even if they had dark skin it was "spanish" blood or some other such suitable colored persons[makes me sick to type it]

Maybe, but I've heard news stories about how it can cost 5 dollars for a apple for some parts of the year In some places up there and that's a legal easy to grow fruit.

That's the unfortunate thing about all this, never a black or white situation (I don't mean skin colour) too much grey to try and solve. Be better if we could all sit down around a few pipes and discuss this.

I was invited to a place where I drank and smoked with a "Native" ,, the night was going well , then ,,, he flipped out and tried to blame my brother and I personally for what had happened 200 years ago ! Sprouting about how they were a Proud Race etc and we oppressed them ! He then tried to punch us ,, it was after I had put the bugger in his place , that I questioned him , ie , I asked him " If you are such a proud race ,, why are you sitting here in a Whitemans House (commission) with a Whitemans needle in ya arm with a whitemans drug ? " If he was so PROUD ,, why was he doing this shit and blaming me and my brother .?

I defended myself , THEN , pointed out the FACTS .

He was the aggressor , I was the defender ! He punched me BEFORE I said anything ! Next time , read the what I said , rather than read what you want to hear !
