After careful counting and double checking....

 

I am pleased to announce the winning name for the organisation is....

 

 

CANA Cannabis Awareness Network of Australia

 

 

 

The tricky bit is the availability or not of this as a website. It seems to be available as a .com.au, but not as a .org.au or .net.au

 

SO what do you all think the next step is?

 

Do we look for a suitable web address, make a non profit organisation then start spreading the word?

 

Or is there another path you want this organisation to take?

hmm i thought we needed a .org.au, .com.au is for businesses ....

 

my thoughts . love that name .com.au seems fine to me as long as it has .au on it we should be apples

 

right we have a name thats what we will use on the flyers banners rally stuff so if you are designing something theres our name ..

 

We need to setup a sort of mission statement for the group though to give it direction and keep it on track e.g

 

*To push for the legalization of cannabis

*To promote correct cannabis Information, studies and medical facts

*To Stop propaganda as it arises in any way possible

etc...

you get the idea im not real good with that stuff but i know that for any group to move forward and stay on track it is best to have a list of goals and statements that the group or organization should focus on and work towards. this list can change from time to time its not law its guidlines but important none the less.

But as brilliant as it sounds i might have missed out on what the whole purpose of the organization was (i've only been around a few days). Sounds like something i'd like to be a part of, Would anyone mind linking me to the original topic or giving me a short description?

i like the name, a .com.au shoud be ok i guess.

as for our goals, im with mower man, though i think we should stress the need for a medical marijuana bill like cali did before we are to push for complete legalization. i think our best chance of getting enough support for full legalization is to first gain understanding from the community for medicinal marijuana, just as cali has done.

 

even though i'd love full legalization so that recreational users can be happy, i think we first have to look out of those who need it most. as i think full legalization is unrealistic at this point.

 

maybe even start with the legalization of cultivating hemp?

If you are in Sydney some members are planning a mass rally early in September at the Powerhouse when the NCPIC are having a conference on Cannabis. (http://ncpic.org.au/workforce/cannabis-conference/)

 

We'd love more people who are willing and committed to help with activism no matter how big or small a role they want to play. At this stage there is no leader or organisation as such, just a few people who want to make a start.

Hi Crunchy, you can get a licence to grow hemp through the Dept. Primary Industries. A lot of hemp is being grown in NSW
