NOOB growing question

Recommended Posts

Hi , I have just planted 16 hydro seeds in a half top soil half compost mixture in 16 separate pots. Also I only have miracle grow as a fert at the moment and potash for bloom.

So my question is can I use my friends hydro light to increase growth the rate in the early stages of the cycle? As in keep them out all day in the sun then put them under the light for a period of time at night. I do realize I assume I have the seasons all wrong as we are in winter at the moment and Iam trying to grow ...... I am also buying a PH kit tomorrow and would like your opinions on the right levels.

PS I am in North Queensland

Reguards hoop ;)

Hoop, how you going there mate? good to see you starting a grow.

Now ive never heard of hydro seeds before as far as i know a cannabis seed is a cannabis seed and can be sown where ever the fuck it wants to grow.

Second a 'hydro light' there is no such thing as. What your looking for is an artificial light that come in many range and sizes (eg HPS, MH or CFL etc.) artificial lights can only cover so much of the colour spectrum and can not produce the power of the sun yet, so naturally the sun is the best option for any plant. But when winter comes along cannabis is not suited to the cold wheather though there are strains out there that can handle it but i wouldnt be willing to sort through them.

The setup youre talking about works and can work very well (out in the sun then under lights) but you have to be willing to be there everyday to do it and not stuff up there cycle too much otherwise they will become stressed.

Anyone can grow in the coldest winter as long as you have the right set up and enviroment for your plants eg ambient temperature, enough light, water, and a good air flow oh and of course something to grow in.

Thankyou very much for your reply, When I say hydro seeds I mean the seeds that I have got from indoor plants.

Here is a bud from the indoor strain I got my seeds from for my outdoor plants.post-35411-1249685404_thumb.jpg

And here is ONE of the plants from the same seeds that I trialed 2 weeks ago, the other 15 are yet to pop as the where only put in the soil yesterday.post-35411-1249685613_thumb.jpg

So mate after the sun goes down how long should I keep it under the grow light?.

actually it's a minimum of 18hrs light for a vege period

you can have them under 24hrs of light if you want

Jimbo ;)

not necessarily jimbo, a lot of strains will veg quite happily under 15 or 16 hrs of light, you just get faster growth and a faster transition to flower using 18/6 then switching straight to 12/12, therefore it's the best way to go indoors where time is money.

Just look at the daylight hours when your typical strain goes into flower outdoors...

hoop your best thing to do is to say that 8am you have good sun/light in your plot/area and for arguments sake we will say 4pm thats 8hrs of light so then u take it inside under 400w and run that for min 10 hrs ...now to me that alot of work and you have to b spot on with your time in and out same every day then you cause stress to the plant when whetha is shit if you got a 400w then run it under that for 18hrs and if its for your out door then as it gets closer to dayl;ite saving you reduce the time down 2hrs ova 4 days to 16hrs then plant outside 2nd week of daylite and it shouldnt flower and will take off and grow. see the temp changes will b all screwed up and will stress plant being warm under 400w at nite and 13-16deg during the day
