More than $1 million worth of cannabis hidden behind false walls in Sydney home

August 7, 2009 - 6:59AM

Over $1 million worth of cannabis has been found in a western Sydney home, which had false walls to hide rooms filled with hydroponic systems, police say.

Police raided a home on Blaxland Avenue, Luddenham, at about 6am (AEST) on Thursday.

They allegedly uncovered 344 cannabis plants, with an estimated potential street value of $1.1 million, and equipment used to grow the plants including fans, lights and fertilisers.

Police say they found the home had been altered with a number of false walls to house rooms where sophisticated hydroponic growing systems were set up.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at the house, taken to Penrith police station and charged with cultivating cannabis plants (large commercial quantity) and altering or adding to electricity installation.

He was refused bail and will appear in court at a later date.

Good example of why you don't steal power, $50 says that's what got him busted. ;)
