Conditions too cold

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i've figured that the reason my plants are growing so slow (at 5 weeks biggest one is still only 2 inches tall), is cos of the cold temps. im hand watering atm so water heaters arnt an option, im gonna go with a res for my next grow but in the mean time how can i warm up my babies?

p.s. a proper room heater isnt a favorable option, would one of those heat mats be best?

Its the root temps that are more important, so a heating pad/mat might help, if not, try insulating the pots at night with something, like wrapping a blankets around them or similar. If their sitting on the floor, raise them up off it.

An oil filled bar heater would be the best option.... but... yeah.. ;)

I noticed you said a water heater isn't an option cause you hand water..

Might be worth considering what brick mentioned.

I live in melbourne and it pretty fugin cold atm, I also handwater..

I fill a 20L bucket full of water, put an aquarium heater in it and set to 22-23°C, an airstone, leave it overnight, mix nutes etc into it in the morning, then water... helps keep the medium warmer for awhile imo, or atleast helps.

Water straight out of the tap is as low as 14°C or lower sometimes, hence setting your rootzone to that temp for awhile.

yeh water heater wasnt really an option cos i thought i'd have to set up a res and an auto watering system, etc, but pure's informed me i can just use two tubs, one within the other, and the bottom one with water and the water heater within it, then sit the plants within the top tub for temp control, it seems the cheapest option so im gonna try and put it together 2moro ;)
