Iamnotacop brought up something in the Naming thread that I think deserves a bit more than just a mention in another topic.

One thing that has always gotten in the way before with many groups in my mind is " the way things should be done" and what their actual goals are. Like it has with religion and many other beliefs it has caused separation between pro-cannabis groups or users trying to start a group.

I think the solution thought up in the other thread of a single conglomerate group split into sub-sections is something that can work to solve what has been a potential issue in the past and it will also mean that more people will be able to slot themselves into helping the area that is most relivant or important to them .

The Sections mentioned before plus one added by myself are listed below, Please feel free to add whatever you feel is missing

  • Medicinal - obvious
  • Recreational - as a safer alternative
  • Cannabis Legal Defense Help - Assistance with legal defenses
  • spiritual - religious purposes
  • Industrial - ropes, plastics, soaps etc
  • Environmental - biofuel, alternative oils etc
  • myths and misconceptions - debunking the propaganda
  • Education - educational programs for public and schools
  • laws and regulations - how we think it should be controlled to stop kids getting it etc

One thing that is important for us as a group I think is to not nit pick at the little things at this stage , at the end of the day each persons views on cannabis reform are valid and everyone is going to have their skills and passions which make them more suitable at focusing their energies at specific area's of reform.

What I would like to do in this thread is get an idea from people where their key interests lay , what skills they may have that could be helpfull and I would also like to compile a list similar to the above for what ways we plan to take this fight to the people.

Most of what I can offer is in my brain , skills and what random things i may have available to me , I'm a good information collector , web designer , Application Developer , I can offer hosting support aswell as any technical needs that are required down the line like voip , video conferencing ect. I have spoken to a few of my clients and people I have done favours for in the past and have managed to get us access to some of the paid legal resources that law firms use to research current acts and amendments aswell as past case law examples which is going to cut the work of any information collection in that area in half.

That is a brilliant idea and I agree it is the best way of going about it. It is after all the same law that everyone is focused on and I actually agree with all the above mentioned categories. I am extremely interested in the medical component but every other component is just as important to other people (just in different measures). By incorporating an activist group with all aspects it gives a wider range and an immensely well defended argument.

I have a lot of sales and a bit of marketing experience.

I have been out of action for over 4 years and not until recently after finding and using mj have been able to do much.

The majority of my sales experience is incorporating the approachable look and dispassionate views but instead affirmative messaging. These are the same aspects leaders, bosses, coaches, telemarketers, and those annoying bloody TV ads at 3 in the morning incorporate.

Appealing to the masses by basically manipulating their basic needs.

It sells almost better than sex.

It’s not much but other than time and willingness to stand up for what’s right and the patience to see it thru its all I have to offer.

I can't think of any specific skills I possess that will help, but there's a simple way for all of us to chip in. If we can make posters, info sheets, flyers and even simple logo images available for download, then each of us can donate some time and cash to printing and distributing the info right across Australia at a grass roots level.

Getting our message to the people without censorship or hindrance from the mainstream media is important imo.

I have a lot of free time for researching stuff.

I am good at crafty things like sewing and making things. I thought I might make a banner for the NCPIC rally, and see how that goes.

I am pretty good with words, at least on paper. So I hope to be able to help with writing stuff like letters we can send to the media, politicians and other groups that might be interested in this.

From my own point of view I am interested in seeing medical use legalised AS A STARTING POINT... and then move onto recreational users. I have been a recreational user (or so they call it :)) in my youth and now would say I am a medical user.

I also like brainstorming for ideas with other people, and I believe that we need to stick together as a group even if that means sometimes we have to compromise to meet our overall goals. This issue is too important to too many people to let infighting get out of hand.
