Recommended Posts

winter in canberra has already kicked on, and i'm about to start a sog grow under 1000hps in the garage. only problem is temps have already dropped below zero. i'm not even running fans in veg at the moment and lights are on 24/7 anyone know of a safe way to heat while lights are off in flower??

I would buy a small heater and hang it high in your growcupboard so no plant matter falls on it. Temps as low as 15 degrees in the dark cycle should not be a problem, I've heard of growing successfully with even lower temps than that. Should be able to adjust temps during the dark cycle with timers on your fans.

i have plants growing outdoors now that exp. 5 degree nights and with the chill factor of the wind take it down to 0 sometimess the chill in the wind can make it minus !!! and my plants are coming along very nicely B)

i would suggest that u insulate the grow room...like if the setup is ur garage not a wardrobe or simular this could be a little hard to do so i would have the lights on of a night and off during the day...if u can insulate the room i would do it cause it would be cooler of a day and warmer of a night....

heaters are extremely expenive to run (some even more so than a 600watt hps !!! ) so if u cant insulate i would get the heater, put it on a timer and have it going a minute every 10 during the night...never know if ur lucky not only will a heater warm ur room it might even release som Co2 and ur plants could flurish...

Hi Tigger....if you raise your plants off the ground that should cut down on them getting cold...if you have them being autowatered...make sure its heated water...to 20 centigrade and that should also help them stay warm

Portable fan heaters will chew thru 2400 watts an hour depending on the setting u have them on....
