Novice grower needs advice

Hello people of the community

 

I am about to start growing for myself having never grown weed before and need some advice from the good people of this forum.

 

System details,

600watt Euro Compact HPS lighting system. ( see Lighting systems for more info))

1x GT 205i NFT grow system. (incl: pump, all fittings - see Grow systems section for more info)

1x 125ml pH Up or Down acid.

1x pH liquid test kit.

1x 1ltr Ionic Grow nutrient Hard/ Soft water version.

1x 1ltr Ionic Bloom nutrient Hard/ Soft water version.

1x 1ltr Ionic Boost nutrient.

5x 2mtrs White/Black/White reflective sheeting.

1x Digital Thermo/hygrometer (monitors temperature and humidity).

8x 3" gro-cubes.

8x SBS seedling/ cutting cubes.

 

I plan to house this system inside a home made enclosed grow box (specs and design from a long term grower)1.2m x 1.5m x 2.2m inside a garden shed in a fairly cold climate. I will use feminised seeds, AK-48 is looking good at the moment. I was just wondering if anyone can see any problems with my system or strain choice, any advice would be a great help...Thanx

A NFT system for your first grow aye... gutsy.

 

From what ive read, you want your nutrient levels and PH to be spot on in those systems, so i'd suggest a proper PH meter, and a EC truncheon to measure your nute strength.

 

Other than that, you might want a heater of some sort depending how cold it gets.

I suspected this system may be a wee bit above the bar for my first crack at cultivation, and my choice of system has to be spot on so any input from your good selves on the forum as to which system to use that will give me the least headaches would be very welcome.

 

Easy to grow strains information is also something i'm looking for, once again thank you for any advice.

Wranger is dead right when saying that you will need a good ph pen and a good EC truncheon for keeping everything micky in a hydro setup

 

I have never done NFT before so I can't trash talk it - but from experience I can say that doing the old pot in pot method with a recirculating res is very efficient and easy to get a grip on

Well guys thanx for the help. I took on board the soil suggestion as well as googled for about 3 weeks on guides for growing, not to mention a couple of ebooks.

 

I'm now up and running and things are gowing very well.............so a big cheers to you all
