Plant gel medium

Hi Im trying to develop a gel that i can use as the soil,I was thinking of getting pectin,mixing it with nutreints and soil turning it into some soil jello jam and then cutting them up in small chucks,i figured that water would drain better and plenty of air would get to the roots.

 

any thoughts or advice on this matter? or has anyone tried something similar?

don't really know from Adam but my immediate reaction is that either the cubes would, to some extent, dissolve in your nute mix or the roots growing through them would break them apart, in either case gumming up the works.

 

Using small amounts of such a medium for starting seeds and/or clones sounds reasonable and if the media was fully water soluble the actions of watering and flushing the maturing plants would clear it all out of the system.

well all i wanted to use it for was growing a small bonsai weed plant in a one ounce cup.

 

i figured it would make it easier to help me trim the roots.

I assume you've seen this stuff too --> PlantGel

I've seen that stuff before but has never even crossed my mind using it to grow Cannabis ... I though it was just for "office" plants etc

Sounds like it might work well though ... I can't recall seeing it mentioned around here before .. anyone used it??

 

Anyhoo , I have no idea how to replicate such a thing ... maybe if you found out how that commercial PlantGel is made and what from it could help. I used to have some pretty crazy ideas about plant mediums when I was younger ... seems like the tried and true are the best options in this case but It's always good to experiment no doubt. yep fun and science,i did see the plant gel i seached how to make it but couldnt find a thing,so i figured might as well try to put somethin together.

Nah mate .. you should be right ... just ask for THIS one to be deleted and if the Mods want to they can put your other (first) one into the correct category. It's often hard to figure out what should go where sometimes ... if it needs changing it gets changed so No worries.
