whats the best way of cleanin tubs

Recommended Posts

Hot water, bleach, and then lots and lots of rinsing! If there are big chunky roots, you may have to submerge the whole pile of expanded clay and remove the roots and clay balls one at a time. Its a bitch, and a colander can help, but its still a wet, messy job. If you can, take the whole thing outside and operate on a large sheet of plastic or tarpaulin, this will make cleanup so much easier. And once again, once you've sterilised with the bleach, (about 1 part bleach, 5 parts water or so,) make sure you rinse everything THOUROUGHLY before using it in a system. Make the final rinse ph-adjusted and you're ready to grow! lol

Hope this helps ya! B)

Yeah, after cleaning them once you will probably decide that the replacement cost isn't that much after all. lol

Uhm, go the same way, maybe even a spray bottle, and make sure you dry the thing with a clean cloth, otherwise their's not much point, is there? Anyway, this one cleaning should sterilise the growroom. Make sure you get into all the nooks and crannys, and... *James Brown voice* Clean that thang!!! Uh! Yeah! Get it clean now! HOOO! Yeah!....

Anyway, good old bleach is pretty much the steriliser of choice, although I'm sure some others will be offered as well. Sugarsoap is supposed to work, but I hate the stuff. That's only my opinion tho, so let's see what the others use, eh?

for the containers i would use hydrogenperoxide ( h2o2) diluted in water. bleach works vary well but is toxic and so u must make sure to rince of residue. h2o2 is not toxic but USE GLOVES AND DILUTE IT BURNS ; NASTY BURNS !!!!! u want 2 c http://www.overgrow.com/edge/gallery.php?u...&in=badface.jpg

also about the clay pallets. they really are a pain and not expencive to buy. but i found that i had to ph buffer new 1ns for ages. remove as much plant material by hand or sieve as possible. soak in diluted h2o2 or canazyme. Don't use both together.

can also heat in oven to kill of any bacteria

ya get them clean b4 u reuse them

when i started using clay balls i bought a big bag only used a bit of it on two pots, after the grow i decided insted of just using the brand new clayballs i had left that i would just rewash the just used stuff.seperated the clayballs from the perlite, washed in cold to get most the crap off then soak next in bleach solution and hot water.then washed and washed again to make sure they were clean with no bleach left on them then strain into the pots for the next grow.had no problems with the grow got the same yeid as last crop but then decided it's just easyer throwing the whole lot in the vegie gareden and then enjoy both gardens.so the story is yea can be done but as others have already said it's cheap enough to go out and get a bag each time you need it.ladybirdbud.

IMO

I spray the room with h202 too. surface spray first. I buy new clayballs, way too much hassle not too, old ones look good as garden cover.

Umm I wouldnt be recomending ANYONE to put hydroton on their garden, Cops are not dumb and if they see hydroton outside as a mulch then they are gonna know what your growing pretty easily.

The stones is a hard call, as ok you got to clean the roots out of used stuff, but hey its just as much hassel cleaning all the dust and broken stones out too, If you dont get all the dust out then it will block pumps, filters and lines.

I personally have used hydroton for 3 grows now but think its almost time to use something else, the cleaning is a bitch anyway you look at it,

But what I do is fill up a bath with hot as water and 50 mls of H202. throw the stones in their, leave them for a little while to kill the bugs and shit in it, and then start scooping the stones out with a colander, flushing with tap water at the same time, most of the balls will float where most of the roots and shit will fall to the bottom of the bath tub,

I never bother getting ALL hydroton, back as its not worth the BS for a few more.

Oh yes use H202 for cleaning, the stuff that burns is the best as the stuff that doesnt burn is just diluted and not as strong,

I currently have switched to using Silver Shield because it contains Silver.

but this takes like 25 mls per 10 litres of water, so its not very economical in comparison to something better like extreame oxygen.

Oh and WTF is perlite doing with hydroton, they are not suited to each other.

ONE suggestion I found Invalueable is to use net pots but without sox, that way you dont need as much hydroton,

Oh and I clean my walls with H202, and water, but my new area will be using anti-bact paint and will be wash and wear, so I will just have to sponge it down with some h202.

Bleech is bad news for MJ plants, the fumes are toxic to it. SO ok to use if theres no plants around, but not if there is.

Oh and Hydroton isnt all that Cheep either, at roughly $25-00 per grow it all starts adding up.
