Ok ive been thinking and reading through the Australian constitution and i was thinking. If ya cant beat em join em. They refer to god several times i noticed and religious freedom. Then it occurred to me the bible and transcripts from decades and centurys ago promote cannabis use based on the same god and the same jesus that the constitution is refering to. Then it occurred to me we can create own own denomination and be free to use our wonderful cannabis plant as god intended.

some acts from the constitution

and some demonination material for us

I think the law is designed to protect people from discrimination based on their religion which is quite different to allowing people to create any kinda religion they want to commit illegal acts with immunity.

I mean I could legally start the church of the speeding drivers but I dont think it would prevent me from getting traffic fines and losing my license.

but, that been said, I'm pretty sure there have been some successful legal challenges to drug laws in the USA based on freedom of religion. also, there are some internet communities based around this idea already. personally I think they're not much more than a money making scam so wont plug them here. And the church of the holy smoke was operating out of the hemp bar in Nimbin for a while but not sure if they kept up with that one or not.

that was the next thing if they accept god in the Australian constitution and it mentions cannabis in the bible thats fine, but it wont hold up because the church consider it either which craft or they dismiss the translation all together.

it was a fail attempt ... food for thought though in those constitutional acts

maybe we should be making the church accept it first then the law would be forced to comply. That would never hasppen either though

if you cant beat em join em.. shock tactics like their (government) adds but with the suffering endured by people who genuinely do and potentially could receive relief from their conditions from cannabis.. i'm assuming there would be quite a large population of elderly citizens (preferably because they are the "elders" of our society and so are more respected and would receive a larger audience).. all an assumption but if they marched with the support of the australian cannabis reform group (what ever the name is) in a controlled campaign with internet videos, posters etc then i think the compassionate australian public would have to start thinking twice about cannabis and would rightfully give elderly / terminally ill patients the right to a better life.. tbh religions and political parties cost too much money (haven't looked at costs just assuming) and are unnecessary when thinking of the fundamentals of our constitution. Regardless of what the pieces of paper say (our constitution), its what the people say that fundamentally make it, plus they are much cheaper, easier to reach and much more effective than political / legal avenues. Pollies just react to the public to a degree and always stay in what the public deems as reasonable (without "outside" influences). If the public see medicinal cannabis use as unreasonable then you probably wont even get a response from them in regards to relaxing prohibition. However if the pollies see it as a way to gain support for their party ( im guessin liberals need it atm :yinyang: ) by the public support behind medicinal use and can back it with respected, seriously sick members of communities and medical professionals and their testimonies then i think they would at least consider it !?!. This is where the serious players would show their heads if they want to stop medicinal cannabis legislation. Would Sir Rupert Murdoch for instance give two shits about cannabis legalisation?? maybe if he was being paid in his back pocket quite a large amount of cash he would manipulate any story to do with cannabis in pretty much every major news source available to the average australian? .. just a guess at the opposers but with his life and his latest wife nothing would surprise me :haha: .. im thinking james clavell based the struans on the murdochs maybe ?!? just puttin it out there.. PEACE

:haha:

Nice linkage to a great article there LMM :D

As has been mentioned ... it's certainly been well considered as an option to oppose the Unjust laws

Every avenue must be explored no doubt.

I've never swayed from the point of view that I personally am (and always have been) a Medicinal/Re-Creational AND Spiritual "user/utilizer" of this wonderful Plant ... over 15 years and I can't say I see it very much different now than the first moments I did. :)

Forever some shall remain a mystery :D

Cheerz :yinyang:

Budman :D

P.s. Nice reply kratzman ... and everyone else ;)

dakratzman - Religions cost too much money!?

It literally costs nothing. Plus it's tax free.

But anyway.... I agree about the elderly citizens thing. However, there already IS support for medical Cannabis in Australia. 80% support to be exact. So there is something else missing that we need to figure out.

Anyone got any ideas? With so much support why would the government still not do it?

My hunch is that we have NO REFORM GROUPS. So there is actually nobody really PUSHING for it to happen. There is one or two small groups, but has anyone ever seen them in the media? No.

If we start our reform group and get to the media, we can say "Look KRudd, 80% of Australians want medicinal Cannabis to be legal". That is twice the amount of people who supported an alcopops tax (I think that was like 40%). So why have you not been working for the people, but rather, against them.

That would definitely stir people's thoughts I think.

Everything that says not to do, is everything the government has done to the islam religion. Surely plenty of them have challenged it in court?

I really don't think it has all that much authority, especially when there's international treaties contradicting it.
