Keep a plant forever?

Recommended Posts

Hey smokers,

I'm about to embark on my first outdoor grow - in September (I'm in Sydney).

All the grow diaries that I've seen and most info I've read show growers getting their girls to harvest point and then ripping them out of the ground - Now it's not like I'm an extreme hippie who is shedding a tear for all the beautiful plants who only get through one season before they are uprooted, but is there any benefit in killing the plant at this point? Does the plant only have a single "good" flowering cycle in her life, or is it merely a safety measure to reduce the risk of being busted with a giant tree??

Years ago I met a bloke at the pub, got talking and we ended back at his place for a smoke. He introduced me to "Cleopatra" - a MASSIVE plant he had tied down in his backyard that must have been YEARS old. He basically trimmed off buds as they became available but kept her alive and dearly loved - and she loved him back with an endless supply of smoke.

Can anyone satisfy my curiosity? Otherwise I'll grow my super lemon haze hedge and tend to it forever more.

of course you can put your lights back to 18/6 and with leaving a few bottom buds and pruning correctly it will grow back..

if your in pots.. you may need to trim the roots too.. so it doesnt get root bound through the next grow.. it takes upto 4 weeks to see any substantial regrowth.. then it needs to be pruned and thinned out..

people pull the plants and start again from clones.. for the simple reason as its easier.. and faster to start again with a nice clean system so as not to get issues at a later date.. clones will be ready to flower with in 4 weeks.. where as re veg will take 4 weeks to start to re veg.. and the probably another 2 weeks or so before its ready to flower...

so.. if youve got a strain you wish to keep.. and didnt have clones.. then re vegging is the answer.. say youve planted out a bunch pf seeds.. and flowered them.. and you find a couple of plants you wish to keep.. but the rest are just crap.. youd ditch the rest.. re grow the ones you wish to keep... then clone it for future grows..
