One big drug bust took place in the first hour of Monday when troopers from District 6 State Police arrested two persons for possession of more than 2,000 pounds of cannabis.

Lt. Fred Winterroth of District 6 said Monday afternoon that the arrested subject was driving northbound on Interstate 55 near Bloomington at 12:30 a.m. Monday when they were stopped for a routine motor carrier safety inspection of their semi.

Winterroth said during the course of the inspection, inconsistencies aroused suspicions of officers.

“A search of the semi-trailer revealed more than 100 bundles of suspected cannabis weighing more than 2,000 pounds,” said Winterroth.

Police said the driver of the semi, Julian R. Nunez, 50, of Arizona, hometown not listed, had been charged.

A spokesperson at the Livingston County Jail said early Monday afternoon that Nunez had not yet been taken to the jail.

Easily. Depends on how you package it.

Most major busts in my experience (limited mind) are accidents.

"Hi there we've been called in to investigate a domestic dispute last night and wondered if you'd heard anything next door.... hey, what's that on your coffee table?"

"uhhhh, basil?"

"Yeah right, I think we better have a look inside sir...."
