very dodgy first grow

hey everyone first post. just thought i would let you all in on my first and pretty dodgy grow so far im growing one hell sweet looking baby plant from a bagseed its about a month of and has been thru hell litterally and its only a month old

 

for starters i gave it what im pretty sure is nitrogen burn or too much nitrogen something all leaves started going dark round the edges and brown and stuff so i cut like all of them off pretty much then one day i left it outside and the dog got it when it was about 50mm big

 

there currently growing on top of my tv in my room which is in my cubboard a 20w beam flurescent tube thing and an 8w energy saver in a lamp there on 24 hours of light a day.

 

i know this is hell shit but its growing. i will have photos up soon,

 

few questions

 

when do they start to stink while there growing

will i be able to grow them under these lights if only to produce something of smokable quality

Good on you for giving growing a go, it's the best way to learn.

They can have a particular smell while in vegetative growth (light on for 24hrs, or 18 on and 6 off), but most people won't associate it with cannabis.

When you want the plant to bud you change the timing to 12hrs on and 12hrs off , this is when they will really start to smell.

If these lights are for some reason your only option they will be great for learning about how to grow, but the bud will likely be of low quality with the lights you are using. There are some grow diaries on here that use cfl's (your 8w energy saver is a cfl) and have done quite well, they are just using more cfl's of higher wattage.

so if i simply switch the lights to 12 on 12 off they will begin to flower? or do i have to wait until they get to so big or whatnot.

 

also

 

how do i "tip the plants" is there a certain way of doing it?

 

what is flushing and how do i do it

If you raise from seed plants need to reach a certain level of maturity before being put into 12/12. Young plants will flower, crap.

 

Cuttings are different because they 'inherit' the age of the parent, but need time to form roots.
