What type of Ph test kit should I buy?

Maybe a digital one like this one from Dick Smith?

For soil one of the packet soil PH testers from Bunnings is fine. about $10-15 I think last time I bought one (they last for ages).

 

You mix a bit of soil with the white powder, then add the indicator fluid and read the colour.

that would all depend on wat u wanted to test

to test the actuial maedium like soil u can use a soil ph kit

as mentioned above from bunnings

but this same kit wont work wen u wanna test the ph of water or nute mix etc

i use a ph 2 from oakton seems to very accurate

and only retail for 115$..

id be getting a digital meter to read the water and reservior

I ended up picking up a kit from my local garden center, nothing else around here so I took one and it cost only $20. I found it just shows a lime green color on both potting mixes I have which going by their chart would mean a PH around 5 - 6. So I guess I would need to add lime to make it higher. I think I will get a digital meter as well and will then be able to measure the water etc as well and hopefully it will be a bit easier to get a true reading. Edited July 1, 2009 by bbates
