i've got a 400W HPS already,

the space is perfect for 2, but one still covers everything.

i'm asking do you guys think the light intensity from 2 x 400W would be greater than 1 x 600W? or the benefits from 2 x 400W would be worthwhile paying the extra money for power?

you will get more bud density with the 2 400s mate , for sure and as you said .. fits perfect ...

Yeah 2 x 400 but you'll need to be organised with either a lot of similar sized clones or a screen to keep the height uniform for best results.

I use 2X 400W - 1MH and 1HPS and seem to go pretty well with it.

I would recommend the 400's over the 600 watter.

As an alternative you could go an Electronic Digital 600watt ballast( ie: lumatek ) that gives out 20% more llight than your standard magnetic ballast.

 

which basically means your hitting 750 watt while saving alot of power. Good if power bill is a worry.

have you actually used the lumatek with the claimed 20% extra output dandy? just cuz i've got a digi ballast that gives 'high output', you hit the switch, and its like the equivalent of putting another 18W CFL in the mix. you get bugger all. it's on but.

Yep i own and use a Lumatek and you can visually see the extra light output although of course my eyes arnt good enough to detect the % of extra lumens.

 

There is a fantastic article on this site about why e-ballasts do give out the extra output that they claim(good brands ie lumatek ones anyway), not sure where it is now but if u search u can find it.

note: unlike what their saying at the top in red, the galaxy ones still do suck - the new models are apparently being sent back again and again to the manufacture for replacements and multiple stores have stopped carrying them.
