double chamber vs triple chamber

Recommended Posts

hi, long time smoker but first time buying a bong.

ive smoked for about 4 years and joints have been my favourite but i am looking into buying a bong.

ive smoked out of lots of mates glasseys but ive never thought bout buying one till now... i really would like to get a double chamber (thats if the old bong shop in Manly sells them) cos i have a mate who let me smoke out of one and it was smooth as shit. but i was looking round on the net and saw that its possible to buy triple chambered bongs.

now im not sure if thats more novelty then actually contributing to smoothness - which is what im going for as i have really weak lungs, and though i can slay cones it burns like a motherfucker - so i was wondering if anyone can help me in my quest to find a billy?

Double chamber is the way to go...

I've even owned a 5 chamber. The basic rule is... the more chambers there are the smoother it is, but at the same time, the more chambers you have the shorter the life of your bong will be. This is simply due to the amount of parts in the assembly/rubber gromets dont hold like they should after lots of movement etc...

Which reminds me... here's a clip of the 5 chamber in use! :)

Smokin the 5 chamber.

I think there are various reasons for multichamber bongs. The main effect being cooling of the smoke.

I haven't tried a bong with a filter chamber though.

For as long as it lasted (knocked over one late night, by a friend) I quite liked my 3 chamber job. I would think of mine as 'classic' 3 chamber.

1) small chamber taking stem and bowl. (I've heard good argument that such should not contain water)

2) 2nd chamber is larger and the main water filter.

3) 3rd is basically a 'splash guard', so you don't taste filthy water should you get too eager in consumption.

as well as the water filtration/cooling there is a 'venturi' effect as the smoke passes from one chamber to the next. Heat escapes as air passes from high to lower pressure (caused by you suckin on the thing).

I, and people with lung conditions I don't have, don't particularly like a large volume in (however many) chambers (even 1). I don't want to take one breath to get smoke, another to clear the cone, and a third to clear the smoke from the chambers (PET PEEVE, I hate someone handing me back a smokey bong. They have not consumed all the goodness and are passing 'stale smoke' to the next person).
