help needed

Recommended Posts

First thing your doing wrong is the type of light you have, HPS 600W is a great and powerful light but for vegetive growth isnt that good since its light spectrum is for flowering you need a metal halide which is a blue spectrum perfect for vegetive growth.

Hi Girus,

I agree with everything else you mentioned except this. True the MH spectrum will slightly increase veg growth. Slightlyyyy. I have yet to see a side by side experiment done on this in my travels funnily enough, perhaps because it's too hard to measure the difference. His light is fine :) Just don't like how you used NEED the mh.

Good call on the light times though, Dr you mention that you have kept 12/12 - that would not be so much a problem as Girus noted from seeds that is all they know so they should still grow. The problem comes in when you have the 12/12 being constantly varied. Get a timer :)

peace

Sorry didnt mean to use the word need, the plants will grow fine with HPS globes.

I did an experiment on this a few times to get a consistent result and founf with MH globes during the vegetive stage i got on average about 1/4 better growth rate.

cheers guys,

ill have to pay a visit to the local hydroponic store this w.e i think.

ill probly stick with hps but ill keep that info bowt the mh in mind,im happy long az it grows nice and healthy, not tryna go for a world record grow or anything :),wll certainly not with this plant :)

An i have invested in a digital timer for my light and fan now.

The new leaves cumming through in the new set up looks alot more healthy than the old set up,leaves are alot darker now and much bigger already in the last 2 weeks its growin alot more than the previouse month an abit.

post-34574-1250515546_thumb.jpgwll here's an update for anyone who cares ,

i got some new photos of this lil gurl(yes gurl  ) thats taken a verry slow aprotch to life :wallbash:

.she is now 4 months old .

she's been repoted in a larger pot with sme decent soil,iv topd her a couple times and been feeding her potash, seaweed booster and some orchid fert for groth, and now iv just started using orchid fert for flowering, stll using a 600w hps light witch is now on 11.45 hours/min on 12.15 hours/min off ,i tryed shortening the on period by 15 min in the hope that it myt start flowering and it seemd to work.

how long should it take for a plant to do its life cycle on avrge?? i kno this one has taken considerably longer az its my first time growing and she had a rough start to life, uneven light cycles due to the spot it was in and had to turn it of everytime i had a visitor :wallbash:,high temps ,bad soil etc

but iv managed to pull her through to this stage.

any usefull tips for this stage??

11.45 on 12.15 off light cycle

waterd daily

nutes az directed on packaging(once every couple weeks normally) (seaweed booster, orchid ferts for flowering, potash)

light sitting bowt 3 inches above plant

temps about 30*c with light on with fan + fresh air duct
