pearl light vs clay balls

Recommended Posts

Perlite will hold more water than the clay balls, it can be used in large pots or planter trays with a regular flush to rid it of accumulating salts or a run to waste system, or mixed with coco to stop that medium compacting and assist aerate it.

Clayballs are generally used in a recirculating or flood and drain system and need watering every few hours or so. They are also usefull in the bottom of pots, trays etc for excellent drainage.

Roots love both mediums but the main thing to remember is it is the continual soaking, drying out, soaking of the rootzone that is the key to healthy growth not a constantly wet medium. This is how oxygen is carried in and out of the rootzone, one of the basic rules of hydro growing :D

Stop washing the perlite with your arse ev, that's just wrong man :bongon:
