Is this a Total Noob Screw Up?

Recommended Posts

Good news, I was able to get a full refund and they had the 48watt Nelson globes in stock so I grabbed a few 48 w cool bulbs and 1 x 48 w warm globe to make a basic setup like Barons. I was thinking of using 1x cool & 1 warm as I read it becomes more like real sun with the two different ones and I will have one spare bulb.

I wasn't able to get any batten holders though, would somewhere like BigW have them?

What is the Mesh material in Barons setup and what does it do?

and one more question, what is best used for reflection material on the walls of my cabinet (which is a large cardboard box)?

The way I see things is if your serious about growing your own smoko then get serious enough and buy the right equipment ...

i couldn't have put it better myself, i feel the same way 100% nothing more to say

are you some 16 year old wanna be grower ?

i would assume he is "young"

clearly he is not old enough to do his own competent research.

or use a credit card to purchase good equipment/drive to a hydroponics shop and not look like some kid trying to grow pot

assumptions only at this stage.

It's a shame people like you who are bitter over someone making a mistake spoill it for the helpful and friendly members that tried to help me.

Yes you are making a lot of insulting assumptions, I'm not some 16 year old kid, much older in fact and I don't drive as I don't like polluting the environment by driving cars around. I also do have a credit card and I could quite easily and afford to buy the latest pre-built grow system but I wanted to do it myself as I enjoy the challange and I wanted to go CFL for low energy consumption. I was in a bit if a hurry to get some lights as I wanted to get my seeding under a proper light and I admitted to screwing up so what is your problem?

I admit I lacked a little research although I had done a fair bit. Now I have done even more and it's becoming much clearer what I need. We all have to start someone so insulting and putting down people when they are learning is quite uncalled for.

hey mate, i understand that your just inquisitive and thats cool, but at the same time a few of the questions you have been asking is basic common sense, or something you should have picked up through some research. I'm also new to "growing for personal use" however I did enough research to at least have the right equipment to make mistakes with. :xcited: . First of all a wise sage once told me, growing is never cheap, expect to spend atleast a few hundred on obtaining a nice setup.

Secondly, dude a cardboard box? come on...

Finally as its been said before, if your willing to spend 140 on a light stand, go the extra mile and get a 400w ballast with an mh bulb. I dont really understand what you mean by pre-made lighting systems and "doing it yourself" unless your creating your own lightbulbs buying a ballast and a light is pretty much the same as walking into bunnings and buying a series of useless fluro's.

Anyway man not attacking you, just make sure you research thoroughly before jumping in the deep end. I know the best way to learn is to try, however you'll save yourself a few bucks and a shitload of travel time (by the sounds of it) if you know exactly what your looking for.

peace

ok thats fine but the box is only temporary until I build my cabinet and I'm trying to get some ideas for that here: https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners...=24699&st=0

I'm quite happy to go with CFL lights, one they are going to use less power and 2 they don't put out too much heat which means less worry about all the problems with that. Sure I might look into other lighting in the future for flowering etc but I'm happy with these lights for now. I have been researching more than you think, but I was using the US sites and they seem to be more into CFL than people in Australia.

Anyway let's continue this on my new thread

my apologies to only a small section of what i stated....

Also on a different note, not wanting to pollute the environment ? i just have to question your intelligence when you state something like this. average volcano activity in the last 75 years have contributed more emissions or "greenhouse gasses" to the atmosphere than man produced from the 1800's which was pre-industrial revolution to modern day..... but people like yourself believe the propaganda put forward....only in the last 25 years have we become conscious about our polluting as a society and only in the last 15years have people started to exploit other people like yourself with products and carbon emmionsion trading schemes which flog the tax payers pocket....

[note] that post was not flame towards you.
