Is this a Total Noob Screw Up?

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I went to my local store and seen these lights, it said "Cool" worklight 480watts and it looked like the one on this page although more expensive $150. Well I didn't see anything else in the store and I was already late so I picked these up. Then when I got them at my home and opened the box I realized there is no bulbs included. I'm also a bit unsure if this is going to be any good? I don't have transport so it will be difficult to take them back so please tell me if these will be any good (once I buy the bulbs)?

Here is a few pics and the specs are on the box in the pics:

I need to find out soon so if they are not any good I don't want to be too late in returnng this.

That's a ridiculous amount to pay for that - you could get a second hand HPS setup for that, just have a look on eBay

Jimbo :bongon:

ok, well I guessed I paid to much but my main concern is will it work? It would be a big hassle to take it back as the store is a long way from where I live and I don't have transport. If it is not going to work I would have to take it back but if it can get me going, even in the veg stage then I can live with it. I wanted to go with with CF for low energy consumption and heat.

If it will be ok then what bulbs should I buy that will fit in it?

I think it will work a treat for veg, and at $75 per light it's not too bad I guess.

ok that makes me feel a bit better. So from what I understand, I need to buy 2x 48 Watt (240 w output each) Nelson compact fluorescent cool white light bulbs. Can someone tell me where I can buy these online as don't seem to be able to find anywhere?

I would be advisable to return the light frame, i cant belive you were absent minded enough to pay soo much money for just a frame.....as jimbo stated you can get a proper HID kit (2nd hand) for the same price and once you add the cost of the bulbs you can definitely get yourself a brand new HID light kit, i have seen a 400w HPS with cooltube and ballast for $200 on ebay brand new !

take that stand back to the shops, get your money back and put it into something that's not overpriced and misleading.

its a freaking work light for fks sake, how are u gonna get results with a work light.....how about buying a light that was made for the job.

ok, yes you are rigt I should return it to bunnings. The funny thing is that it's not working properly anyway (one light isn't working at all) so I hope to get them to send the delivery guy to pick it up and process my refund. I will instead get the basic CF lights & holder as suggested, thanks! Edited by bbates

Why bother ... The way I see things is if your serious about growing your own smoko then get serious enough and buy the right equipment ... Or are you some 16 year old wanna be grower ? I could be wrong and hope Im wrong but dude do your self a favor and do it right the first time ...

Cheers Peace
