Silence a fan

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I just got my new 200mm Westaflex fan today :bongon: ......cant believe how much better it is than my old shitty 150mm inline ( thanks for the recommendation jimbo!)....the place was starting to smell up and the odorsok certainly wasn't working with the old fan

...while I am very happy with the airflow the fan itself is noisy!, can hear it from the next bedroom, I have fitted it out with acoustic ducting which made a bit of a difference but I was thinking of trying to muffle the fan further by wrapping some towels or foam around the fan itself....any ideas guys??.....hopefully nothing too expensive :bongon:

try wrapping a doona around your acoustic ducting for more padding

spotlight sell wadding that comes in different thicknesses that you can use and it's a bit lighter than a heavy doona

i found wrapping my centrifugal fan doesn't quiet it down at all

all the noise seem to be coming from the air getting moved through the duct

less bends in your duct will also help try not to have a bend to close to the fan
